Corner to Corner Squared

US terms. No gauge required. Any size hook, any yarn you prefer to use.

This version of block c2c is worked in a square until you get to the width you want, then the block can be turned into a diamond or left with the saw tooth edge as you like. I change colour every row and tie off as if finished, then I start the new colour.

To start, chain 6.

Round one- DC in third chain from hook. DC in each chain to end of row. 4 DC made. Chain 2, tilt piece and work over the last DC from previous block. Make 4 DC. Chain 2, tilt piece and work over last DC from previous block. Make 4 DC. Chain 2, tilt piece and work over last DC from previous block. Make 3 DC. Four blocks made. Slip stitch into corner of first block to form a square. Cut yarn leaving a tail long enough to weave in later.

Round two- Turn to wrong side and join new colour with slip stitch to top of any DC on an outside corner, *chain 2, working over DC from previous round make 4 DC. Chain 2, tilt piece work over last DC from previous block. Make 3 DC. Slip stitch into top corner of block from first round. Repeat from *. Slip stitch into join stitch of first block to finish the round. Eight blocks made. Cut yarn leaving a tail long enough to weave in later.

Round three - Turn to right side and join new colour with slip stitch to top of any DC on an outside corner, *chain 2, working over DC from previous round make 4 DC. Chain 2, tilt piece work over last DC from previous block. Make 3 DC. Slip stitch into top corner of block from second round. Chain 2, working over DC from previous round, make 3 DC, slip stitch into top corner of block from second round. Repeat from * to end of round. Slip stitch into join stitch of first block to finish the round. Twelve blocks made. Cut yarn leaving a tail long enough to weave in later.

Round four- Turn to wrong side and join new colour with slip stitch to top of any DC on an outside corner, *chain 2, working over DC from previous round make 4 DC. Chain 2, tilt piece work over last DC from previous block. Make 3 DC. Slip stitch into top corner of block from second round. Chain 2, working over DC from previous round, make 3 DC, slip stitch into top corner of block from second round. Chain 2, working over DC from previous round, make 3 DC, slip stitch into top corner of block from second round. Repeat from * to end of round. Slip stitch into join stitch of first block to finish the round. Sixteen blocks made. Cut yarn leaving a tail long enough to weave in later.

For each following round you will be adding four new blocks, one for every side of the square. To square off the motif and form a diamond shape design, just finish each side off separately as if it were a regular c2c. Happy hooking.
