It started like any other day—except, it wasn’t. The universe had conspired against her in every possible way. First, the toothpaste had betrayed her, splattering all over the bathroom floor as she squeezed a little too eagerly. Then, in a tragic comedy of errors, she slipped on the wet tiles while trying to clean up. As if that weren’t enough, mid-shower, the water had decided to give up on her. She stood there, soap dripping from her hair, staring up at the ceiling in exasperation. Her only saving grace was an omelette sizzling on the stove. But even that ended up charred and inedible.

“Today is really a bad day,” she muttered, staring at the blackened remains of what could’ve been a decent breakfast.

But was it truly a bad day?

"Maybe something good will happen later," she thought, clinging to a sliver of optimism as she rushed through the rest of her chaotic morning.

And then, it happened—a text notification popped up on her phone.

"A text?" She raised an eyebrow, her fingers pausing mid-scroll. "Who could that be?"

Curiosity piqued, she unlocked her phone. The message was from him. A name she hadn’t seen in a long while.

He had followed her. (Named Sam)

She stared at the screen for a moment, a flood of memories washing over her. They had known each other since childhood, but barely exchanged more than a few words back then. He was just... there, in the background, part of the scenery of her younger days. Yet, here he was, sliding into her notifications like a surprise twist.

"Should I follow him back?" She mused, hovering her thumb over the button. It was no big deal, really. Just an innocent follow.

And so, she did.

Later that evening, another text buzzed through.

"Hello."

Simple. Unassuming. She could have ignored it, but something made her reply.

"Hi."

What followed was unexpected. They exchanged texts, lighthearted at first, catching up on old times. The conversation flowed like they had known each other for ages, though in reality, they had barely interacted before. They talked about life, work, and silly childhood memories that brought laughter. It was easy. Familiar. A comforting rhythm of banter, jokes, and just the right amount of flirtation.

Over time, he became a constant presence in her daily life. A little good morning here, a random meme there, late-night chats that blurred the line between friendship and something more. She wasn’t in love—not yet, anyway. But he had found a soft spot in her heart. He had become a habit, someone she looked forward to hearing from.

But habits can be dangerous.

And just when everything seemed to settle into a comfortable pattern, the tides shifted. A text came in, unlike the others. Different. It held a tone that made her pause.

"We need to talk."

Her heart skipped a beat. Those four words, loaded with weight, hung in the air like a storm on the horizon.

What next, you ask?

A drastic change.
