*Teresa*

I walked the lavish ballroom that was located in the core of the city, each deliberate stride projecting ambition. The manner in which I chose my black knee high dress, making sure it clung to my body, serving as evidence of the charm I possessed within this domain of authority and possibility. My shoulders were adorned with raven hair, which framed my piercing hazel eyes, that exuded both mystery and drive.

Elijah was in sight, in his well-fitted suit, moving with confidence that aligned my bold strides. His sharp features, brown brushed back hair and striking brown eyes spoke of sincerity and traditional charm—the competitive style.

As Elijah and I were seated at the same table amid the voices of elite competitors, the tension between us became immediately apparent. He leaned in and whispered, "Teresa, ambition does not justify unethical behaviour. An industry that is founded upon trust flourishes." Ending it with a smile.

I'm aware Sam told him how I slept with him twice before persuading him to seal a deal with me.

I met his gaze with a knowing smile, my retort swift, "Trust might be your foundation, Elijah, but some of us believe in reaching the top at any cost."

The evening progressed through a sequence of tense negotiations. Elijah's propositions, which were founded upon stability and reliability, were not in align with my strategy, which involved me getting comfortable with the host of this party. My planned pursuit to success.

As the clock ticked away, the room became a battleground of ideologies.

In a pivotal moment, the wealthy host turned to both of us, "Your final pitch, convince me why I should choose your visions for the future of real estate."

Elijah took a deep breath, his words measured, "In this realm of uncertainty, stability and trust is what I offer in time."

I, with a glimpse of determination, smiled, "Time is of the essence, and success favors the bold. I present a vision that will take us to new heights."

The room held its breath as the host laughed.
"That's why I would like the both of you to join my project."

Elijah and I stood on the edge of a decision that would shape not only our professional fates but also the tangled threads of tension and ambition, that bound us together.
A man who carried ethics to boldly, and I, who loved to bend the rules.
