"Oppa, I promise it'll just be for a couple weeks." Taelyn Rhee pleaded with her elder brother "dad's already mad at me Taelyn." Glenn huffed

"It's been years, he can't seriously still be mad." Though Taelyn knew she was lying through her teeth once the words left her mouth. Their father was a difficult man whom believed Glenn needed to make something of himself. Be more. He treated each of the four Rhee siblings the same.

Hana, the eldest sibling and daughter, had taken the tough love in stride. She had gotten a full ride to medical school, majoring in Pediatric medicine, and was about to start her residency at a hospital in Michigan.

Glenn, the second oldest and only son, had it tougher than his sisters. (None of the sisters could deny that fact, it was the truth) Glenn had his own mind, his own views, and dreams that their father didn't believe in. Glenn had ran away from Michigan to Atlanta Georgia once he turned 20 after dropping out of college for computer science.

Taelyn, was a lot like her brother, but she had the weight of a perfect older sister and younger one (JinAe being a lot like Hana, perfect grades, full-ride scholarships and she hadn't even graduated secondary school yet.) to live up to. While Taelyn had in fact finished her college degree, per her father's request, she had failed to get a job. The young girl had wanted one year to herself before being a full fledged adult.

Their father hadn't been pleased and all but forced Taelyn out of the house. Which resulted in her taking a last minute decision to drive across states to go to Atlanta to visit her brother.

Stealing the motorhome Hana had recently purchased to make the trip. Their sister was currently not happy with Taelyn Rhee either.

"Taelyn, you can't be serious." Glenn grumbled. "You stole the motorhome, Hana is actually going to kill you." The motorhome was the first thing Hana had brought after getting her first check, desperately wanting to live away from home, but not wanting all the added expenses. It was a smart buy, with solar-powered roof, a refurbished kitchen and bathroom, and a decent sized storage space and at a cheap price.

Taelyn just shrugged her shoulders innocently. That was not her problem until she went back home. "Oppa please, I'm not ready yet." Like always, all Taelyn had to do was bat her eyelids at her brother and pout her lips to get him to cave.

"I hate that the three of you still do that. It's not fair." Glenn grumbled but like the good brother he was he made work of grabbing Taelyn's bags to take inside his small apartment. If the Rhee sisters could say one thing about their brother, it would be that all of them had him wrapped around their fingers. He melted like butter the minute any of them even threatened to cry.

Though JinAe was the worst, being the youngest of four she had each of her older siblings at her beck and call.

Though their father was the worse when it came to his perfect little angel, he believed JinAe could do no wrong. Like Hana.

"Thanks Oppa." Glenn simply kissed his sister on the cheek and proceeded to help her unpack her things.

A week had passed of Taelyn ignoring the phone calls of her older sister and father. Spending nights passed out on her brother's couch was exactly what she needed.

Though that changed when Glenn had rushed into the apartment, red-faced and on the phone with their sister. "Hana I don't understand what you're telling me." Taelyn jumped up from her place on the couch and watched as her brother panicked.

Not exactly out of character for Glenn but hearing the panicked voice of Hana on the other line had definitely scared Taelyn.

Knots formed in her stomach as she watched Glenn throw his own clothes into duffle bags. "What's going on." Taelyn's small voice questioned her older brother.

"Hana said we have to get out of the city." Glenn said "she said all the cannibal attacks are getting worse and we're not safe here."

Hana; level-headed, hard-working, not afraid of anything- was scared. Taelyn could her the shaken whimper in Hana's voice through the phone.

Glenn threw the phone at Taelyn, who suddenly realized that ignoring her sister was last thing she needed to be doing. "Hana." Taelyn voice came out as a whimper.

"I'm sorry I didn't help you stand up to dad." Hana whispered "I'm sorry I didn't listen." Taelyn had tears well up in her eyes as she whimpered. It sounded like a goodbye. "I'm sorry I stole...you know, your house." Hana laughed. "It's okay, I'm kind've glad you did now. Listen to Glenn. Get out of the city, use your head. Stay away from everyone Tae, I mean it. These people, they aren't sick; they're dead. The Government is helping. The world is....." it seemed even Hana couldn't muster up the courage to say what they were both thinking.

The world was ending.

"Go to the stores, stock up on everything." Tae listened to her "the military is killing everyone, they just killed the entire staff at the hospital. stay away from them. It's a ploy to stop the spread. Don't go to any bases. You survive this by staying off-grid."

They survived this by sticking together. "And Tae, don't let Glenn get himself killed." All of them knew Glenn was a pushover, a people-pleaser. Like JinAe, whom despite actually being good at school, ran herself dry trying to make their dad proud by getting those stupid scholarships.

"Don't let Jinny get herself killed either." Tae muttered  "take care of mom and dad. Are you sure we can't make it to you."

"I'm sure. It's impossible, I love you." Taelyn finally let the tears fall. This really was going to be the last time she talked to her older sister. "I love you."

Glenn and Tae had spent their entire savings on all things survival. While the medicine they needed wasn't something they could get without a prescription. Hints why Glenn had stolen the keys off the local pharmacist, per Tae's request and pestering, so they could came back and steal medicine from the cheap run-down pharmacy when it closed. Tae never said it was a good idea in her defense. But with the world ended and them blowing literally really penny they owned toward survival gear and canned food, it was safe to say the two Rhee sibling had nothing to lose.

"Where will we go?" Tae questioned. She didn't know the area, though Georgia was surrounded by dense forest, they would need somewhere with a water source. Tae didn't want to waste water when they could just boil it. "Theirs a quarry couple dozen miles  out of the city. That should be good."

Which is exactly how Glenn and Tae Rhee met the two Dixon siblings who had already claimed the quarry as their own.
