He likes your love for nature. Now that might sound a little weird, but it makes sense with an explanation. The explanation being that you always ask him if he wants to take a walk outside with you. At first he was a little unsure about it because he was more of an indoor person, but he soon grew to love it because of how enthusiastic you were about it and how often you would force him to go outside.

When you lost you best friend during the hike where you and Shawn met, you didn't give up on finding them until it was after sunset. This comes in handy when playing a game with some of your friends or something. Shawn thinks determination is a good trait to have.
