Jungkook, dressed up but looking nervous, tried to stay on one side of the room. Y/n, in a nice dress, chatted with friends but kept glancing over at Jungkook.

Here's the catch - Taehyung was their mutual friend and the both couldn't have denied to be on his birthday party right after they came back from abroad.

As the night went on, Jungkook ended up near the snacks, and Y/n, trying to escape the weird tension, found herself there too. Their eyes met briefly, and it felt like there was something unsaid hanging in the air.

Jungkook and Y/n, still navigating the terrain of awkwardness, embarked on yet another peculiar conversation.

Jungkook, awkwardly clearing his throat: "Hey, so... weather's nice, right?"

Y/n, with a playful grin: "Yep, top-notch small talk. Weather, the universal icebreaker of every awkward conversation."

Jungkook, nodding in agreement: "Absolutely. So, um, any exciting life updates?"

Y/n, pretending to think: "Well, I recently discovered that plants don't do well without water. Shocking, I know."

Jungkook, with feigned surprise: "Whoa, groundbreaking revelation! Someone call the botanical journals."

Y/n, pointing to a nearby plant: "Have you met Mr. Plant? He's my new confidant. Great listener, specially when my best friend is ignoring md."

Jungkook, with faux seriousness: "Ah, the silent wisdom of Mr. Plant. A true guru in photosynthesis philosophy."

Y/n, stifling a laugh: "Absolutely. He gives the best leafy advice."

In a quiet moment, Jungkook said, "Y/n, we need to talk."

Y/n, feeling a mix of nervousness and something more, just nodded. They left the party behind, ready to face the situation that had been lingering since that night by the river.

In the soft glow of moonlight, away from the lively hum of the party, Jungkook found himself standing next to her.

Jungkook, his gaze a reflection of earnest sincerity, began, "Y/n, there's something I need to say. It's been lingering in the shadows for too long, and tonight, under the moon's gentle watch, feels like the right time."

He paused, a faint smile playing on his lips as he added, "You know, I've always thought that confessing feelings should come with background music or something. Like a movie scene."

Y/n chuckled, the nervous tension dissipating ever so slightly.

Jungkook continued, "But jokes aside, Y/n, what happened by the river... it wasn't just a one night stand for me. It was way more than that. I've been keeping something from you, something I've tried to hide even from myself."

His eyes, usually shielded, now laid bare the vulnerability he seldom revealed. "I've had feelings for you, Y/n, more than just the kind you reserve for a friend. But I kept pushing them away, telling myself it was nothing. Tonight, I can't deny it anymore."

A gentle breeze rustled through the quiet night, as Jungkook's voice gained an undertone of emotion. "What we shared was more than physical; it was a connection that was a splash of my emotions for you. I enjoyed it, not just because of the sex but because it was with you. And now, it's become too much for me to hold back."

He met her gaze with a mixture of sincerity and a playful glint in his eyes. "So, Y/n, I guess what I'm saying is... I'm head over heels for you. And I thought confessing love deserved a dramatic setting, even if it's just us and the moon as witnesses."

With a soft smile, Y/n began, "Jungkook, you're not alone in this. That night by the river... it wasn't just a moment for me either. I've been going through a maze of emotions, ones I've been hesitant to acknowledge."
