What stung Y/n the most was that Jungkook never spoke a word. He never came to support her when she confronted her boyfriend and Jungkook's cousin sister. Rather, he had told her not to cause a scene when she came in fury to demand answers from his cousin.
The way Jungkook had silently sided with her left Y/n shook. The scars deepened with time as the two friends just went their separate ways, once being best friends to now being strangers, almost enemies.
[A few days later]
A few days later, in the quiet streets of their hometown, Jungkook and Y/n's paths collided unexpectedly. The air crackled with unresolved tension as they stood face to face, the weight of their shared history hanging between them like an unspoken truth. Jungkook, his gaze heavy with emotions he had never vocalized, remained a mute presence, his eyes betraying the depth of feelings he had harbored.
Y/n, her heart still carrying the scars of the past, couldn't contain the storm of anger that surged within her. "Jungkook," she spat out, her tone edged with bitterness, "You could at least speak up. Do you even realize the pain you caused? I thought you were my friend, but you stood there in silence, allowing everything to crumble."
Jungkook, unable to meet her eyes, remained a statue in the tempest of her fury. The unspoken words, the silence that stretched between them, became a haunting reminder of the wounds that had never healed.
Y/n continued her tirade, frustration and hurt painting her words. "I thought I meant something to you, Jungkook. But all you ever did was stand there, a spectator to my heartbreak. Did my pain mean nothing to you?"
Jungkook's eyes, a mosaic of emotions, conveyed a silent plea that he couldn't articulate. The weight of his unspoken feelings became an impenetrable barrier, a wall separating them in the ruins of what once was their extraordinary friendship.

Before the dul could realise, the gap caused due to a small misunderstanding grew quite a bit. High school was over and the kids were going abroad for their studies. Jungkook got admitted in Oxford and was off to the UK while his dear crush got into MIT and was off for the US.
The gap between them remained unaddressed and as they grew up separately from each other, each other's memory was long lost.
However, it was not long until their degrees were completed and the two returned to their home land, Korea once again.
The streets of Seoul had given her a brittle reminder of her childhood here. The year spent in the US has surely made her momentarily forget how things were in Seoul, but now that she's back here, she can feel each moment she spent here fresh in her memory as if it happened yesterday only.
Two blocks down her street, she remembered, was her best friend, Jeon Jungkook. You remembered him as freshly as the back of your hand.
You could've stepped in the building, gone to the ninth floor to the Jeon residence and rekindled your friendship with him, but what stopped you was embarassment.
Back then you had really acted immaturely tk break years long friendship over such a small issue and the embarassment of accepting your mistake has stopped you today from reaching out to him.
But you knew it somewhere in your heart that one day or the other you will have to go back to him.
[Next day; Han river bridge]
Under the soft glow of the evening sun, Y/n found herself at the Han River, the water reflecting the hues of the setting sky. As she sat by the riverbank, memories of their shared laughter echoed in her mind. The weight of the past clung to her like a shadow.
