Oh, but tell me, did you miss me?
Somewhere between here and there
Some fragile lie we wove - a gentle embrace,
and the sound of my heavy boots tossing gravel as I left
Because I did -
I had left myself behind as a timid ghost
that pushes stray hair back behind your ears,
and embroiders kisses into the crook of your neck
Hoping you will think of me,
if I place little hints of my downfall -
but I have invaded all your favorite things and places
An intention I didn't have, to plague you
I sing your name, whisper oaths I had made
My warm breath at your ear,
but you shiver as if I'm cold as death
It doesn't matter what I bare, I can taste only the fear
But I am not the one -
who sunk their teeth into your skin
I merely tried to clean your open wounds,
but you flinched, pulled away, couldn't allow me in
Hatred leaked through pursed, red lips
- and then you told me to leave with this wicked grin
