Chapter 50

Edward goes out onto the balcony where Kelby is. He's been hearing his thoughts while they were helping Bella with the blood. Kelby doesn't say anything. He just turns and he pulls Edward into a much needed hug. Edward would be crying if he had the humanity ability right now. Kelby holds him tightly.

"I don't know what to do," Edward murmurs.

"Just be there for her," Kelby whispers. "Bella needs you now more than ever. The blood's working, as I heard, but you're her husband. She needs you."

"I mean.., when she dies..." Edward pulls away. "What if the venom doesn't work?"

"Then the baby will need you, a father," Kelby says.

"How can I care for that thing if it kills her?"

"It's your child, Edward," Kelby says sharply. "You do not get to abandon that baby over of something he or she can't control. He a dad, you asshole." He storms inside but holds his breath as he moves through the house because the blood aroma is strong.
