Icarus

Zoning out of reality,
looking past the world I see,
into nothingness and everything.
I succumb to the wind with a broken wing.
Icarus, Icarus
I'm flying way too close to the sun,
my body feels like it's burning away
and then I'm falling fast towards the earth,
the beautiful earth, I'll be with you soon.
I close my eyes and accept my fate,
perhaps I won't be so eager next time around
on this revolving world that we inhabit:
the living, breathing, Mother Earth!
I speak to you today, apologetically,
for our race has lost the knowledge to fly...
but it can be achieved again,
we just have to advance exponentially.
To feel free than these mortal bodies allow us,
That is what we all so desire.
Shed your skin with me and fall away,
you'll see it's worth the lying pain.
