Jungwon |

I hadn't eaten breakfast because I felt too weak, but compared to yesterday, I was feeling a bit better, though still not very good. I still laid in my bed the whole day.

I found myself waiting for Jay to come, and every passing minute felt like an eternity. I never expected to develop such a strong connection with him in such a short time. I wasn't someone who easily cried in front of others, but with Jay, it felt different.

I despised showing that side of myself to others, especially as a boy. The fear of judgment kept me from letting anyone see my vulnerability. Yet, with Jay, it was different. Next to him, I felt safe and accepted.

I glanced at the clock, and it was already past 7. Jay had promised to come, but he hadn't shown up yet.

I'd never admit it out loud, but I longed for his presence. He made me feel understood and cared for, like I wasn't alone in facing the struggles at home.

As I waited, I couldn't help but think about how much trust we had built in just a week. It felt like we'd known each other for much longer. The trust I had in him was unexpected but comforting. He was more than just a friend; he was someone I could rely on, someone who genuinely cared about me.

Just then, I realized something strange. We've never met during the day, only when it's dark outside. Was Jay not showing up because he couldn't be in the sun? I know it sounds silly, but vampires avoid the sun, right? Or was this also an exaggeration of Hollywood movies?

When it was dark outside, I heard that familiar sound again coming from my window. I already knew it was Jay. With a smile, I went downstairs and opened the door, eager to see him.

"Hey, Jungwon," Jay greeted me, his usual warm smile lighting up the night.

"Hey, Jay. I was waiting for you to be honest," I admitted, trying not to sound too desperate.

Jay teased me with a playful smirk, "Did you miss me that much? Maybe I should be fashionably late more often."

"Feeling any better?" he then asked.

"A bit, not for 100% though," I replied.

Jay came in, and we headed to my room, settling down. He broke the silence, "Can we talk about what happened yesterday?"

I nodded.

"I can't express how sorry I am that you're going through this," Jay began.

"I know you didn't expect me to unload all that on you. I'm sorry," I apologized, feeling a bit guilty.

"No need to apologize. I'm here for you," Jay reassured.

As we delved into the conversation, he listened attentively. It felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders, knowing someone cared enough to lend an ear.

Towards the end of our talk, Jay asked, "Are you hungry?"

I nodded, unsure of my appetite.

"Alright, I'll make you some soup. It'll be ready in no time," he said, standing up to head to the kitchen.

As the soup was ready, we sat down to eat, but still, a question lingered in my mind.

"Can I ask you something?" I began, and Jay nodded.

"Is there a reason why we never see each other during the day? We only meet when it's already dark," I asked.

Jay paused for a moment, his expression shifting slightly. "The daylight here is pretty dangerous for me. Going out while the sun shines can and will make my skin burn. I might not survive that."
