"You're a little funny, you know that?" You paused your stepping around the house upon hearing the voice, the pitch high and male. "You walk around with such a high status, yet when you open your mouth to speak, you have nothing to say. You're quiet and reserved, almost as if you don't know who you are." The boy's voice chuckled, your head slowly turning to try and see who was in front of you.

You were only able to see a head of yellow, your eyes instantly filling in the blanks and registering this boy as Tails. "And how does that make me..." You reached a hand up to your chest to press your palm against you heart, pausing when you felt your clothing. This was different, you've never felt a fabric so soft before. "Funny..?" You questioned your friend, your eyes slowly training up from the floor to look back to the fox.

The boy gave you no answer, instead, he turned around and ran around the wooden house you were in, giggling as he went. "Do you even know what the word 'funny' means?" The boy sudden quarreled you, turning around and tilting his head, watching as you merely shook yours. "It means... something that makes you laugh! Or, makes you happy. You've been happy before, right?" Tails asked you, hopping onto a wooden table that sat in the middle of the room. This house was oddly empty, wasn't it?

Blinking once, you tore your hand gently away from your chest and glanced down at your palm, a golden feather laying limp in it. "Yes, I have." You muttered, clenching your fingers around the feather of gold, your mind running blanks as you thought. "But, I can't remember when... it's odd." You sighed and proceeded to let go of the gold feather, the weave of rope it was attached to catching it before it clattered to the ground. It bounced off your soft, fabricated chest, laying right where ones heart would lie.

The boy went silent, stopping his tricks on the table and instead lent his focus on you and you alone. "You don't remember? Well that's not good!" You sighed and closed your eyes before lifting your head upwards, opening your eyes ever so slightly to glance at the blurry boy. "Hey, how about this. We make happy memories of our own, together! Just like how a family would!" Upon hearing that word, you flinched involuntarily, you gasping air through your teeth as your eyes widened.

"Like... a family..?" Your voice was hushed and your tone was soft, as if you didn't believe the words that came from your mouth. "I've... I've never..." You're not sure why, but you felt something dribble from your eye and rest at the bottom of you chin. Reaching a hand upwards, you flinched upon feeling something cold, something wet and something salty. Were you crying..? You've never cried before...

The boy hopped off the table and ran towards you with greed, avarice to get rid of anything that was making you swell up. "Yes, like a family, yes! Have you not had one?" The boy questioned, running forward and pulling your hand from your face, you eyes still trained forward. "That's okay, I've never had one either. We can grow one, together! How does that sound ██████ ?" Swallowing something that was caught up in your throat, you missed the call of your name, instead trying to focus on the soft feeling of the boys hand.

It felt to human to be Tails, and it felt to soft to be his glove, either, confusing you immensely. Turning your head down to look at the boy, you vision finally cleared up as you saw not a fox in front of you, but a human boy. His face was pale with malnutrition and his eye sockets were deeply sucked into his face. He looked sickly, ghastly to your own pair of human eyes, something was clearly wrong with him.
