A Twist of Destiny

The guests were going to arrive soon. House workers were busy decorating the house. Children were having fun and some of them were helping in the decoration.

The adults were enjoying the moment and waiting for the guests to arrive.

Few cars arrived at the entry. Adults went to welcome them. The guests exited their cars and were greeted with flowers and family hugs.

One of them went to Rehaan as they were friends. Everyone met each other and went inside. Everyone were having a talk with each other. Soon all of them gathered at a place.

Siddharth asked Rehaan if he could get some water. Rehaan's mother heard the conversation and said to Siddharth "Are beta apna hi ghar samjho" and ordered Adaa to get him a glass of water.

[ Translation - Hey son, Consider it your own home ]

"Why would I-" She stopped because of her mother's glare. "Oh it's okay, I'll get that myself. May I know where's the kitchen?" Siddharth asked and Rehaan showed him the directions. He went in that direction and Adaa was ordered to go and help him.

Siddharth went inside the kitchen, grabbed a glass and poured water for himself from the jug. He turned and took a step towards counter while drinking water.

Adaa bumped into him. The glass was still in Siddharth's hand but some water spilled on him. "Are dekh ke chalo na bhai" Adaa said in an annoyed tone.

[Translation - Hey, watch as you walk bro]

"Hey..you're the one who bumped into me. You should apologize for it" Siddharth replied. "Oh really, then I'm so sorry" She said sarcastically. "Pata nahi Kaise Kaise log hai yaha" He murmured, but she heard it. "Aapki jankari ke liye bata du ki Ye mera hi ghar hai" She said.

[Translation - Don't know what type of people are here ]

[For your kind information I should say it's my house ]

"I think you didn't hear Reahan's mother telling me to consider this house as mine" He said. "Huh...whatever" She said and rolled her eyes.

He started wiping his Kurta looking at it. She glared at him, grabbed a tissue from the counter and said giving it to him "Here...take this and clean it fast. And come with me, I have been ordered to show you the directions"

He looked at her for a second, grabbed the tissue and cleaned his clothes.

They came and it looked like nothing happened between them. Suddenly everyone decided to go to terrace and light the flying lanterns.

Adaa went to her mother and said that she will not participate in this. Her mother replied that "Bacche You can't say no. It'll be a disrespect to them" "But-" She was cut off by her mother "No buts" She just nodded her head in reply for that statement.

Everyone had to be in pairs for lighting lanterns. "Everyone be in pairs, choose your partners" Adaa's mother said.

Adaa looked at Rehaan to choose him as his partner. Siddharth did the same and looked at Aisha. They both were shocked as Rehaan and Aisha were in pair.

No one was left. "Siddharth, be in pair with Adaa" Siddharth's mother said. They both looked at each other and said "Bilkul nahi" at the same time. Rehaan and Aisha laughed at them.

[Translation - No way]

Both of their mother glared at them and they had to agree. No one can say anything in front of their mother.

"To light the lanterns, male has to hold it and the female has to light the wax with a candle" Adaa's mother said to everyone.

Every pair started doing as it was said. So, they had to do it too. Siddharth held it up in the air. Adaa tried to light the wax with the candle. It was taking time. Both of them were feeling annoyed.

"Can't you even do something that easy" He said to Adaa. "Can't you shut your mouth and have patience, Old man" She replied. "I'm not an old man, understood?" He said to her in an irritated tone.

"Ohh..I see, now hold it upright and straight" She said trying to light the wax. "Who are you to order me?" Siaddhart said to her. "Your so called partner for this game. So hold it still or you will tear the fibre"

He was feeling so annoyed, so he just looked away and did not say anything. The wax started burning, gas filled in the lantern. All the lanterns were set free in the cold sky.

Everyone looked at each other. They accidentally made eye contact with each other for a second, but looked away instantly.

It was then time for dinner. Everyone went to the dinner table. Parents were sitting together and also asked Siddhart and Adaa to sit together. Somehow they sat together as they both were tired of declining everything thier parents said.

Dinner table was set. Food was ready. But there was a silence. To break the silence, Siddharth's mother cleared her throat, Everyone looked at her direction.Then Adaa's mother said in a serious tone "Everyone, we have an announcement to make"

Author's Note :- I know I am late in uploading this chapter. I had some tests. And I had to prepare for my academics, as well as It's wedding season, so I had to attend some of them. That is why I did not have time for writing. From now on I will try to post chapters regularly.
