Talk too much || Gracie/Olivia

Chapter 5

Olivia stared intensely at the television right before her, along with her friends, Reneé and Conan, as the movie's suspenseful climax played out. The room was filled with tension as they gripped their popcorn containers, their eyes locked on the screen.

The lights dimmed, and the room was filled with an eerie atmosphere as they stared at the screen, preparing themselves for a potential jump scare. The three friends huddled together on the couch, their eyes glued to the suspenseful and spine-chilling scenes unfolding on the screen.

Jump scares and tense moments had them gripping the couch cushions tightly and occasionally shouting out in surprise. Olivia, who usually loved a good scare, couldn't help but bury her face in a pillow during the most terrifying scenes.

Reneé, always the brave one in the group, teased Olivia, "Bitch, it's just a movie! Don't be such a scaredy-cat." She laughed, Conan laughing along with her.

Conan, not wanting to admit his own jitters, added, "Yeah, hoe, don't let the movie win!"

"Fuck you, guys"

Gracie was rather busy lately, aside from her opening The Eras Tour of the wonderful Taylor Swift's, she was also writing songs for her new album. She wanted to just pass out at that moment, but then realized that the more she procrastinates, the least amount of work she could do and that'll probably just pile up the days of her extended work.

She gripped her pen hard while she stared at the blank page of her notebook, her thumb clicks and clicks on the button of the pen, retracing it on and on as the sound of it satisfies her. It usually just helps her think but this time, she does start thinking alright, just for a different thing... or a person, perhaps.

Gracie grabbed her phone unconsciously, opening messages then instagram only to realize that there wasn't any message from the one and only, Olivia Rodrigo.

Gracie's eyes lingered on the empty message thread with Olivia, and a slight frown crept onto her face. She couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for not keeping up with their usual banter, especially when Olivia had reached out.

In an attempt to shake off the unease, Gracie took a deep breath and decided to send a quick message. "Hey Liv, sorry for being MIA. It's been a whirlwind lately with the tour and writing. How've you been?"

As she waited for Olivia's response, Gracie couldn't help but hope that her friend understood the demands on her time. The pen clicked nervously in her hand as she stared at the blank notebook, contemplating whether she should share her struggles with songwriting or keep the conversation light.

Meanwhile, Olivia, still recovering from the horror movie night with Reneé and Conan, glanced at her phone as a new message notification popped up. Seeing Gracie's name, she grinned, momentarily forgetting the lingering fright.

Gracie's message brought a mix of understanding and excitement for Olivia. She quickly typed back, "No worries! I totally get it. I've been good, just surviving some scary movie nights. How's the tour and songwriting going?"

"I wouldn't say that everything's okay because I'm lowkey a little bit stressed and tired at the moment, however this feeling will not be lasting for long because with a sudden feeling of inspiration, I was able to write a couple of songs, of course :'D" she types, a small smile remains on her lips.

"That's awesome, Gracie! If you do need a little collaboration though, I'll always be there for you :P"

"Thanks, Liv but I'm in another state lol XD"

"Then I'll fly to you >:))"

"You don't need to lol"

"I want to :)"

":'))"

And that was it, the end of their conversation at the time. However, Gracie's answer was neither a no or a yes, and that made Olivia wonder.

Would Gracie want her to come? Or was she just being clingy as always?

Regrettably, she turned her phone off.
