𝓣𝓻𝓾𝓽𝓱 𝓸𝓻 𝓛𝓲𝓮?

𝓘t was only nine in the morning when noises from the driveway woke me up. Who was as stupid to-

I groaned loudly.

It was me who had been stupid. Stupid as to forget about the Quadrant video we would be shooting. We had been planning the shooting for weeks as our following had received the first lie-detector video well.

I mumbled all kinds of profanities to myself as hoisted myself out of bed and quickly got dressed in a pair of jeans and a hoodie. The video we were going to shoot today would be uploaded after the launch of our new apparel line, so it wouldn't matter if I wore it while filming. I stumbled out of my room, still trying to put on my socks, and ran into Nova in the hallway.

"What is happening out here?" Nova was still trying to rub the sleep out of her eyes.

I scrunched my nose and threw my head back as another curse slipped over my lips. I had not just forgotten about the video, but Max and I had neglected to tell Nova about it all together. "We are going to shoot a video for Quadrant." I assumed Nova was well up to date with all the things Quadrant entailed. "I am really sorry. We forgot to tell you

."

Nova was not a morning person. Max and I had figured that out soon after she had come to live with us.

"I'll go into town and get you your favourite iced latte?" A peace offer was all I could come up with to make sure Max and I would live to see another day.

"And a muffin."

"All the muffins you'd like."

She chuckled softly. "I only need one."

Bribing had turned out to help whenever Max and I did something, especially in the mornings, to annoy her. What was even more effective was bribing her with something that included coffee and some baked good. We rarely needed to use this technique, but it was good to know it worked for times like these.

"I'll get you one as soon as possible." I rushed down the stairs and past my friends to get Nova her coffee, greeting them fleetingly as I unlocked my car. Vaguely, I could hear them asking Max where I was headed.

I made my way to Nova's favourite café, which she had told me about in one of her many calls, soon after she had arrived in England. She loved the vibes of the café and the people. Plus, the coffee was decent. I believed she had her priorities mixed up, but she loved the place and came there at least three times a week. "Good morning." I greeted the cashier. "Can I get Nova's standard iced latte and muffin?" She had come there often enough, and the place was small enough for the employers to know what her regulars were.

When I got her the coffee and the muffin – which smelled so good I ordered one extra for myself when driving home – I got to my car, placing the bag on the passenger's seat. I didn't mind driving to some small café for Nova at all. I mean, did I deem it unnecessary with the good quality coffee we had in our own house? Yes, but it was all worth it because Nova would be so visibly happy with her latte, it would make my heart jump.

"Here you go." Nova had been cleaning up the living room so we could shoot the video there as everyone else was preparing the rest for the video. I handed the cup and foam container with the muffin to Nova, whose frown immediately turned into a smile. "Again, we are sorry."

Nova put the duster she had been holding down and placed her arms around my neck, hugging me tightly. "It's okay. I know neither of you did it intentionally. And I might have been a little cranky, sorry for that."

I chuckled, hugging her body closer to mine.

"Nova right?" Aarav walked into the living room, interrupting our little moment. He had texted he had overslept and had only just arrived.
