"Zhu-ShiXiong, we usually rarely talk, but you have picked on me again and again. Yesterday too you wouldn't let me through to The SiXiang Pavilion to pass on word. How have I offended you?"
"You're the one who wasn't mindful enough to do your job and almost botched the event, so why are you blaming me? You should blame yourself for acting all secretive, making other people think you're up to no good. If you had just said outright what you were doing, nothing would've happened. Thanks to you, His Highness almost messed up, and I got yelled at by the Guoshi!" He threw the basket on the ground. He motioned for the other four boys to attack. I leaped down before anyone could do anything with two baskets hung over my arm filled with cherries.
When the trainees saw me drop down from the branches and help Mu Qing, they were all shocked.
"Your Highness!" Zhu stuttered out as i was about done with the stem of my cherry. I looked to the side, and there Xie Lian and Feng Xin approached; by then this Zhu-ShiXiong had already grabbed by his shoulder before i pulled Mu Qing away. I looked to the boys when Zhu asked with a stutter. "What are you doing here?"
"cherries." I said this before sticking out my tong with the stem tide in a bow. while the cherry was between my teeth and the base of my tong. Mu Qing tried not to laugh at that. weird. He normally never laughs at things like this. I looked at Feng Xin, and he was trying to hold his breath. I guess they both have the same sense of humor today.
"Although I don't know for what everyone is quarreling, but Mu Qing is my personal attendant, so if he does anything it's generally under my command. I didn't realize there was some offense in having him pick some fruits for me?" my older brother spoke up from the two boys struggling to hold it together.
"No, no! So it was His Highness that asked him to come! We misunderstood!" the trainees all began to panic.
behind me, Mu Qing leaned against the tree, and was first taken aback when he heard Xie Lian say him coming was under his command,. then he quickly righted his collar, and lowered his head. He didn't speak. i knew he didn't understand, but my brother knows who he stands with as friends and company. The trainees promptly picked up their baskets and hurried off. I plucked the stem off my tong and began to chew on the cherry. I used my free arm to pick up Mu Qing's basket and hand it to him. Xie Lian came closer and took some cherries from one of my baskets and placed them in Mu Qing's.
"Want some help?" he asked as he stood before Feng Xin.
Mu Qing didn't react to either one of us, but he did raised his head and watched Xie Lian with this unreadable expression for a moment. then he spoke, Highness."ghness,"
"What is it?" Xie Lian said.
"Why must you always show up at times like these?"
"Huh?" I asked while the other two were silent. At least my brother was until Feng Xin asked aggressively.
"What do you mean? Is it wrong to come and save you?" Mu Qing gave him a look and took the basket. Feng Xin's body stiffened then he said harshly, "Listen up! What happened before was my fault! I didn't mean to accuse you, and everything was only said offhandedly. There's no need for you to think deeply about anything, suspecting this or that. I don't care for anything other than His Highness, and I'm not interested in gossip. That's all I have to say, so stop being so moody!"
"PFFFT!" my brother laughed, while I gave a short snort laugh. The first time these two heard my laugh mixed with piglet snorts, they both tried not to laugh, yet at the same time tried to see if that was my real laugh. I took a breath and calmed down while Xie Lian continued. Xie Lian waved his hand, "Alright, alright. Everything Feng Xin said is true. Let's just forget anything happened. Nothing's happened."
"I'll look for the red coral pearl again later. Maybe it was dropped on the street." Mu Qing responded in a much more appreciative manner. even if it was begrudged.
"Alright. Only if you have the time. But if it was dropped on the streets then it'll have gotten picked up by somebody by now."
"Exactly, so don't get too worked up," I told him as I handed my brother a basket to carry. Mu Qing, and the rest of us headed out of the woods. as we passed the trees, we saw quite a few other pieces of fruit that looked lovely. so Xie Lian and i casually picked them, and tossed them into Mu Qing's basket. he was shocked by this, but didn't say anything.
"Next time you want to pick fruits for your mother, just say you're picking them under my command, and no one will say anything. The Guoshi told me to return to the palace for a few days so I plan on leaving tomorrow. Why don't you make your visit down the mountain too? Let's just head back for today." Xie Lian said to Mu Qing as we walked.
"Thank you, Your Highness." Mu Qing said in a quiet voice, with a tiny smile, peeking through his thick skin.
