Later that day....... We are all heading home. People who bike riders started getting their bikes and ridding off. Walkers started walking and the car riders got to sit crisscross applesauce on the dirty floor. Waiting for at least thirty minutes for our parents.
Unfortunately, I'm one of those kids whose grandparents are really busy so I am one of the last kids to leave. Cookie of course knows this and so....
"Hey Annabella, what happened?" I didn't hear Cookie say as she runs up next to me.
You see our teachers try to keep us all in a line but that never happens. Especially with me and Cookie.
We have been friends since kindergarten. We are know in the fifth grade and break all the rules that don't really matter.
"Annabella. Hey why did you walk away this morning? I have so many questions. Like, do you remember your mom? If so, was she nice? I bet she was....... is nice.
"COOKIE! Look I don't know if she is nice I nearly remember what she looks like nd if she left for a few years and didn't speak to us, how can she....... be a nice mom."
After that we didn't say a word. Cookie left and I was alone with a group of kids just glancing at me every and then. Probably talking about me.
They are all gone now and I am by myself, again, alone, waiting, waiting for my grandma.

At a half past six, my grandma finally pulled up.
"Sorry," she said with the most not sorry voice.
"It's okay. Let's go home I'm tired and I haven't even done my homework yet." I say back with a yawn.
"WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN SITTING THERE FOR HOW LONG AND HAVEN'T EVEN DONE ONE SHEET OF HOMEWORK"
I just sit there not knowing whether I should answer her or just let her continue to scream at me. I just stayed quiet.
"WHAT? YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY! IF YOU PLAN ON GOING ANYWHERE IN LIFE YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO LEARN TO USE ALL OF YOUR TIME TO THE FULLEST. STOP WASTING YOUR TIME AND GET YOUR HOMEWORK DONE AS SOON AS WE GET HOME!"
I sit there for a few moments before I turn on the radio which happened to be playing one of my favorite songs, Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran.
I couldn't help but sing long...
" when your legs don't work like they used to before and I can't sweep you off of your feet will your mouth still remember the taste of my love will your eyes still smile from your cheeks and, darling, I will be loving you 'til we're 70"
Just as the song was ending we made it home. My grandma rushes out of the car and into the house.
When I finally get inside I go straight to the kitchen table to do my homework. I wish I was back in first grade where the homework was super easy I could do it in my sleep. But being in the fifth grade just meat harder and a lot more homework.
"Annabella are you done with your homework yet" my grandma asked as if she couldn't see me still working on it.
"No"
"Well why the he'll not! Your grandfather is home now and we need to talk to all four of you. You know what put it away you're done for tonight plus dinner is ready."
So in response I start putting away my things and then i get to my planner. I have already gotten into trouble for not getting it signed so I tried handing it to my grandma.
"What do I need that for?"
"So you can sign it."
"I'm not signing it. You didn't finish your homework. You know I don't sign it when you don't finish your homework."
"But grandma....."
"But grandma nothing. Sit down it's time to eat and I'm NOT signing your planner. And you're not changing my mind"
She was right about that one. Once my grandma made a decision there was no way of changing it, well unless you were my grandpa.

After dinner my grandparents told us they had something they needed to tell us, but first we had to have family discussion, which I never saw the point of since only one of us was able to talk and no one else was allowed to even comment because it wasn't our turn.
Cater went first she talked about how school was okay, but she doesn't think she learned anything knew.
Then it was my turn I didn't know exactly what I wanted to say but the only thing I could say was...
"I'm going to get in trouble tomorrow."
Then my grandpa said, like he always does, "Is that all?"
I shock my head yes.
"And why is that?" my grandma asked.
"Because you won't sign my planner."
"Well you didn't do your homework."
After a long pause my grandpa finally said, "okay Jacob?"
I don't remember what my brother's talked about. Sometimes I kinda of zone out everything and my mind just seems to talk to itself.
My mind went on about how I was going to be in trouble tomorrow and get a right up and my grandma would be mad and screaming at me some more...
"Hey earth to Annabella?" my grandpa said.
"Huh?"
"Do you have anything else to say? Are you deaf in one ear and can't hear out of the other?" my grandpa told his usual saying.
I said, "no" as everyone else laughed.
"Okay, so this is hard for us to say but you need to know..." my grandpa stuttered.
"Your mother called last night. She wanted to talk to you guys, but it was past your bed time." my grandma said clearly.
My brother looked shocked as for me, I had a I knew it look, and my sister had a not surprised look.
Cater hated our mom because of some past stuff that I obviously have no clue about. I can't remember much of what my mom looks like much less what she could have done to make my sister hate her.
My grandma interrupted my thoughts, "So umm would you guys like to call her?"
We all nodded yes, and sure enough....
"Hello Bob, if this is a call to tell me i can't talk to my kids again I don't need it." Jennifer said in a mad voice.
"Jennifer you're on speaker phone and your kids are here" my grandpa said.
"Oh. Hi Cater, Annabella, Jacob, Bobby"
