"What are you doing in here?" I hear Lady Underton ask
"I asked for him," Amber tells her
"Amber, we talked about this," She says
"I'm sorry, Lady Underton," mom says. When she got there, I didn't know
I step back toward her, taking her hand "Amber" I whisper
"I haven't made a decision if I'm keeping the baby or not," she tells me, tears in her eyes
I knew then I had to make sure that I didn't lose her or the baby forever. "I love you, Amber." I tell her, "I want us to be a family, marry me."
"Yes," she doesn't even take time to think.
I whap at the tear in my own eyes that had been threatening to fall. Leaning down, I devoured her mouth, not caring that our mothers stood watching.
"Ok, I need everyone out except the father of the baby," the doctor orders
I smile. "What's going on?" I ask
"We're about to deliver a baby," he tells me.
I was excited, I had read the books on what to expect in the delivery room so I wouldn't be surprised even though I didn't know I would be here I had hoped. She didn't want any pain medicine, so it was an all natural birth. I wanted to slap the nurse who kept telling Amber to push harder. She was pushing as hard as she could. I held her hand kept telling her how amazing she was doing even when she tightened her grip on me and I couldn't feel my fingers anymore. I told her how beautiful she was and what an amazing tiny dancer she was. It seemed like hours before the sound of an infant cry fell the room. I smiled as I heard the sweet sound.
"It's a girl," someone says
Leaning over, I kiss Amber. "You hear that we have a tiny little dancer," I tell her
She smiles through her tears. "I love you, Jasper," she says
"I love you,"
"Would you like to hold her, sir?" the nurse asked
I take my daughter into my arms for the first time she's so small so tiny "Hello there my tiny little dancer" I say to her in a whisper and I fell in love all over again.
"Follow me, sir," the nurse says
"What about Amber?" I ask as I follow with our baby
"She is getting cleaned up. We need to get the baby to the NICU," she tells me
"What's wrong with her?"
"Hopefully nothing, but being born at seven months is too early. We want to make sure everything is working properly. "
I nod even though she's not looking at me. Once in the nursery, the baby is taken from me.
"Last name, please," the nurse asked
"De'lone," I tell her
She nods write it down on a card I watch as they weigh her four pounds , and she weights. At only sixteen inches long. She was a very small baby. They then put her under a light. She was beautiful, just like her mother. Her eyes were so tiny, and she had little pach of blonde hair on top of her head. I take a seat in the chair beside the table she laied on. Watching her as she breathed slowly. She was perfect, I saw my mom and Lady Underton looking into the window at us. It wasn't long before one the nurse wheeled Amber out to sit beside us.
"How are you feeling?" I ask her
"I'm fine," she says. "Is she OK?"
"She's perfect," I tell Amber
"She needs a name."
"Ella," I tell her. "It means beautiful Ella De'lone," I whisper
Amber smiles. "I like it."
"Miss Underton, you should rest," one of the nurses told her
"For a little bit longer, please," she asked
"Ok, but when the baby sleeps, you sleep," the nurse tells her
"I'll be here," I tell Amber, I don't plan on going anywhere, "
She smiles, leaning into me, and she kisses my lips. It was a two mouth wait before little Ella got to come home. But I stayed with them until she was released, only leaving to get my computer so I could do my work. It wasn't long after that Amber and I got married. We stayed in the west wing for starts, but after I graduated, I did a trade school to get my degree in computer network architecture. I was good at networking and made high dollars at what I did. Amber and I took our little family and moved out into our own little house. Where our family could grow. We have three tiny dancers and two little heroes. Mom still teaches dance. She gets the pleasure of teaching her granddaughters, and I think it makes her feel good. Lady Underton, though she still doesn't like me and accues me of taking her daughters innocence away, "which I did," comes to see her daughter and grandchildren only and tolerates me.
All three of my girls have tiny dancer charms like their mothers and wear them with pride. My sons are raised to know every girl should be treated with respect. They are delicate tiny dancers..
*****The End****
I hope you all enjoyed this one as much as I enjoyed writing it. It ended up being longer than I had planned for it to be.
