BANG
Fires erupted throughout the village. Buildings crumbled, ash rained down everywhere like black snow, and screams rang all over town.
In the midst of chaos and destruction, panic gripped the village. People ran in all directions, desperately trying to escape the flames and falling debris. The once peaceful community now lay in ruins, its streets filled with the cries of terror and the acrid scent of burning wood and flesh.
In the center of it all stood the burning temple. A temple dedicated to Hestia, the temple was the only thing in the whole town that wasn't burning.
The temple was orange, it blended in with the raging fire. It was dome-shaped, with a tapestry of the history of the town depicted on it. At the top of the temple was a hole where the top of the heart inside reached.
A cry sounded inside the temple—the cries of a baby. In a shimmering orange blanket, it appeared created out of fire. Inside was a boy with shocking sea-green eyes; a few tiny black hairs stood on his head.
The walls started to crumble, and chunks of rock fell off the walls and roof. A large chunk of rock fell towards the hearth, but when it touched the hearth, the fire turned the rock into ash instantly.
The hearth started to shake furiously, and after a minute a beautiful woman emerged from the heart of the flames.
With a gentle and reassuring touch, she cradled the crying infant, and her warm smile instantly stilled his cries.
"You are safe now, Percy Jackson. I will protect you," the goddess Hestia spoke with a voice that seemed to resonate from the depths of the hearth itself. "You shall bring glory to the house of Hestia."
With those words, Hestia walked back into the hearth, vanishing without a trace. In an instant, the raging fires that had consumed the village blinked out of existence.
The hearth's flames surged skyward reaching a staggering fifty feet into the night, and then, silence fell like a shroud upon the broken town, leaving behind only the mournful sounds of grief.
421 word. That's pretty good for my first chapter, but I promise that the other chapters will be much longer. I just really wanted to write, so yeah. Please vote and comment, it really means the world to me. Also, Percy Jackson doesn't belong to me, only the polt does.
