The Same Mistake

I make the same mistake again.

Falling for a vicious rendition of reality,

caught between a freezing past,

or a future burned by my own insanity.

There is no hope when one loses themselves,

outstretched hands fall soundless to our ears,

weaving, sinking, into a pond of tears.

Frosted landscapes and crystal reflections,

reveal my heart and my lost intentions.

I take no heed of my failings,

all my memories are bending,

my thoughts, maiming,

my future is lost,

And the pain continues hailing.

I make the same mistake again.

Ahead,

wonderfully,

in beauty, woefully,

I gaze, and the universe blooms and bleeds eternally.

A false light, an illusory beacon,

I listen and I can hear them.

The joy of many, sounds collecting,

I compel myself to try again,

stepping gently upon the crystal river,

I dance with death and inch nearer,

I slip and fall, melting through in my fever.

I make the same mistake again,

and I've sunk deeper.

What can I do?

Before the pain and corrosion,

My soul's echoes are frozen.

Clawing, heaving, I break through steaming.

My love for life, seeping.

I venture back lifeless.

Droplets and tears seamless.

I make the same mistake again.

Inside,

wonderfully,

in beauty, woefully,

I breathe, and the universe blooms and bleeds eternally.

My soul blooms and bleeds without hope,

and that is my eternal mystery.
