Start from the beginning

It was marked with the date of three days ago.

"On Sunday, these prints were added to the NYPD archive.
Normally, we would've never came across them, but luckily we needed to identify one of the men we brought in today, and we knew he was arrested before."

Roman's voice was firm as he took over the woman's place by the computer, now opening a different file.

A file I was too familiar with.

Olive's file.

A picture of her baby face smiled at me, and I immediately closed my eyes.

Giving myself a second to gather myself, I looked over Roman with a stoic face.
"Well?"

"Look." He pointed at the screen.

He dragged the set of fingerprints we saw before towards the small ones we collected from her room.

I felt like I was going to throw up.

The word 'MATCH' appeared on the screen.

"Don, these are Olive's fingerprints. We ran every test we could."

With my heartbeat in my ears and shaking hands behind my back, I looked around the room.

Twenty men and women were standing, all looking at me with smiles they were trying to hide.

She wasn't just our princess, she was our empire's too.
And now, now we know she's alive.

"Bring my brothers here. Now!" I ordered to no one in particular, and in a second, six of them left the room.

I felt Roman's hand on my shoulder.

God, I didn't even notice he left his chair.

"Alessandro, you're getting your sister back."

°°°

"What the hell, Alessandro?" Rivo hollered as he walked through the door, Santo trailing behind him.

"I was in the middle of a fucking basketball game, and your men suddenly pulled me out without even telling why! What--"

"Sit your ass down, Rivo."

At the sound of my tone, he suddenly seemed to realize what's going on around him.

His brothers were there, All in different positions around the room.

My words caught them all by surprise.

None of them knew what was that about, because how can you really explain that on the phone?

Santo slowly dragged Rivo to a nearby chair, pushing him down harshly.
"Read the room." he muttered before sitting as well.

Amadeo was looking at them with a scowl from his seat, and Riccardo looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but here.

Fuck, Riccardo.
How did I not think about him before?
The news about our sister... God.

I shook my head, telling myself he'll be fine.

"What's going on, Alessandro?" Amadeo cautiously asked.

Taking a deep breath, I motioned for Roman to show them.

The screen behind me showed them the matching fingerprints.

I could see Riccardo tense.
Before, he was leaning against the door, waiting for me to say that it's okay for him to leave.
Now, he was slowly approaching the rest of us.

"What's that?" Santo asked, confused.

I opened my mouth to respond, but Riccardo beat me to it.

"Olive's fingerprints." he whispered, not taking his eyes away from it.

Amadeo was standing right in front of me, demanding an explanation.

I sighed. "The security elite team ran a few tests, but in the end... We got a whole different outcome."

Rivo and Santo looked equally shaken.
Confusion, fear, and hope.

"What does that mean?" Rivo harshly asked.
I fully understand him. I was in the exact same position half an hour ago.
Getting your hopes up is dangerous.

"Olive's coming home?" his twin asked, ignoring him completely.
Santo was always quiet, and after his sister disappeared, it got worse.

When I didn't answer, too wrapped up in my own thoughts, Riccardo's voice was enough to make me come back to reality.

"Is she alive?"

I nodded, looking him straight in the eyes.

He always looks tired, the permanent bags under his eyes are an indication to it.
But now, as he stares right at me, I could see the fire in his eyes.

Olive's kidnapping took a toll on everyone in our family, but Riccardo... With him it was the worst.

"Yes, she's alive." I answered, the fire in Riccardo's eyes gave me a new found power to talk.

"And so help me God, I'm bringing her home."
