chapter 1. new beginnings

noahs pov:

i started attending a new high school a month ago due to me moving. it was really hard adjusting to the new environment. I made friends with two people Gwen and Courtney. gwen was your average teenage goth girl, courtney, on the other hand, was a bossy know-it-all, who was a C-I-T.

"noah, you should really meet one of my friends!" gwen said over the phone.
"whats their name? will i like them? are they incredibly nerdy and into reading?" i asked

"cody, maybe, no." she exclaimed all rambled up.

"when am i—" she cut me off and started talking about how i would like cody as a friend.

"but anyways your meeting him tomorrow after school" she said. great more humans to try and get along with.

gwen and courtney were all excited today for some reason. it was really off.

"so.. are you excited to meet cody?" they both asked

"no not really" i shot back. 

"why not?" they asked

"i dont know?" i replied back. they then started talking about how i would like cody once more. i walked off with my face glued to my book, and then i accidentally bumped into someone. her name was heather and she was like a chick from mean girls

"watch were your going nerd" she said

it was now after school and i was being pushed out of the doors to school. i saw a boy with brown wavy hair that went down to his neck, bright blue eyes and a gapped tooth. honestly if you asked me he was pretty cute. courtney grabbed my hand and shoved me towards him.

"hi! im cody! what about you?" he sounded super excited to meet me.

"im noah." i said with a pathetic grin, he smiled back with his toothy grin

"me and gwen are going to the park if you two want to come." courtney said. before i could say anything the gap tooth boy said "sure!"
so now i was sitting in the back of gwens beat up car with someone i just met. they were blasting lana del rey, which honestly was catchy. cody was humming a different song while looking out the window. courtney looked through the mirror that they had.

"noah cheer the fuck up." she said. i looked up at her with a sarcastic half-ass smile

"thats better" she said

we arrived at the park, gwen and court already ran off hand and hand. which left me and cody. "can we go to the swings" he said really over enthusiastic.
"sure" I said with a calm voice. whenever we finally go to the swings it was bombarded with a lot of tiny 3rd graders. cody looked at me and smiled nervously.

"uh I don't think they're leaving anytime soon." i said.

"yea.. how about we go towards the slide." he said while fidgeting with his hands

we headed towards the slide and I noticed how steep the stairs to the slide were. "oh, fuck." I mumbled under my breath. whenever we got to the stairs cody instantly started walking up them.
i counted each step we went by. i was at 20 steps whenever we got up to the slide. i sat down on the guard rails and tried to catch my breath. cody sat down next to me
"I bet you don't like parks." he said while nudging my shoulder.

"I guess not." i said trying to catch my breath. cody got up and released his hands to help me up. i accepted his offer and he helped me up.

"are you ready to go down the slide?" he asks excitedly

"yup." i was not. i am terrified of slides. cody went down the slide first and I had to follow him down. I sat down at the beginning of the slide. i sat there contemplating my life choices.

"cmon noah! it's ok!" the gapped teeth boy called up. i adjusted myself and started going down i flinched but it was okay.

"YAY YOU DID IT!" he said while hugging me and slightly yelling in my ear.
"oh, sorry for yelling in your ear."
cody murmured. I looked away flustered. I really didn't expect the dude to hug me.

"it's ok don't worry gwen and court do it all the time.." I replied back. he seemed like very sincere about yelling in my ear.

"wanna go find gwen and court?" i asked.

"oh yeah sure." he said mumbling
