Visible red string

Chapter 4

A week has passed since the last time Jerry and Nydia spoke. Nydia was surprised that there was no rumour around the school of her power and of how Jerry stop following Nydia like a little duckling. What happened? Has Nydia message finally got across to him? Nydia starts to leave school to walk all the way back home through the park as she normally does. She likes to walk across the park to listen to the natures sounds to clear her mind when she can't figure out the answers to her questions. As she walks through her normal path, she saw someone familiar drawing on an A3 note pad while squatting down and hiding behind a tree. As she walks closer to him she noticed that it was Jerry. Nydia beam in delight to see him but she does not show it on her face. Nydia stand behind him and said, "playing hide and seek?"

Jerry jump in shock with tears welling up from his eyes and whispered, "You scared the crap out of me!"

Nydia was surprised from the overreacted reaction Jerry gave, Nydia started to giggle silently with one hand covering her mouth to muffle the sound. Jerry face become bright red, he pouted and said, "It is not funny," he glace at the direction he was looking at, he continued, "ah! They gone!"

Nydia has a slight apologetic expression and said, "What were you doing?"

"I was drawing, and observing how my sister and my in-law making up from my fiddling with their red strings."

Nydia flared up and said, "Don't fiddle with people's strings!"

"What? I did not do any harm, they made up in the end. Look look! Come!" Jerry stood up, grabbed her arm and dragged her to a bench and sit down. He pointed at the next bench and said, "Those couple over there, one is my sister and man sit next to her is my in law. I always fiddle with... what we recently called it, 'the red strings'. When I was little, I can always feel this string like object when I grab people by their wrist. I can never touch them so I am wondering what it could be. Until recently I know fully what it is, but I have a hunch what it was. When you gave me a nudge, I remembered that my grandmother told me about the fated red string since she is Chinese. She knows all things about the red strings."

"What! I don't notice that you are quarter Chinese?"

"Well... that is what everyone says to me. Wait! How come you know a lot about the red string of fate?"

"My mom is Chinese."

"Oh!! So you are half Chinese and half English?"

"Yes."

"That is awesome! Anyway, back on track. After I heard the story from my grandmother I start to test things out a bit more. I tend to always stick to my sister at the time so I always play with her red string of fate. I tie lots of knots on her red string. For one whole week they had a large argument."

Nydia interrupted him in an angry tone, "SEE! I told you, don't touch people's red string or you will disturb and destroy their love lives!"

 "That may be true but they tend to be more closer than before. Trust me, maybe u should try it out."

"no, I can't use my power as an experiment and change people's relationship. They always end up to be destroyed."

"Well... they might have a positive effect on them but you did not see it."

"No, I know I destroyed people's lives. And cause pain to people." At this moment in time Nydia looked very depressed from the past memory she had.

"Just try it, and it will be fun and exciting to see what effect will cause on the two people of the string."

"No!"

"hm... We can work together, i can touch it so we don't need to talk to them."

"No is no!"

"Hm..." Jerry is slightly puzzled of how to convince her to try it out. He questioned her, "Nydia, why don't you want to use your power?"

"Everyone will hate me, give me dirty looks, and destroy relationships."

"Right! But no one will judge you."

"No!" Nydia is covered with flames now.

Jerry really wanted Nydia power since he can't see the red string. He thought for a moment, and then his face expression turned evil with a grin, and evilly said, "If you don't use your power to help me I will tell the whole school about your power."

Nydia widen in shock.
