Visible red string

Chapter 1

On a breezy sunny early September morning, a gentle breeze blows the pivoting clueless clouds forward making them dance in the sky, causing the tree's to whistle in harmony. In the mist of cheerful laughter of children screaming, and whooshing cars added into the atmosphere, Nydia walks on the concrete path way to school with earphones plugged into her ear to block off the unnatural sounds produced by manmade objects such as cars, aeroplanes, and human noises. While she enjoys her country music through her earphone a girl bounced onto her! The girl has short brown hair up to her shoulders and hazel eyes, beaming with energy said cheerful, "Good morning! Did you miss me? Your greatest friend Melicent!"  

Nydia jump in slight shock but she is use to this now since this girl always so hyper and energetic. Nydia gives her a quick cold reply,"Morning."

"Aw, why are you so cold? Anyway! It is our first day back to school! And now we are in Sixth form! The new adventure begins!"

Nydia looks at Melicent with her face expression saying, 'I am not interested,' and walked off leaving her friend behind.

Melicent was deep on thought has finally noticed that Nydia walked off quite a distance now, she shouted to Nydia, "Wait Nydia! Why are you always so cold! No wonder everyone calls you Ice princess! Wait! Ouch!" Nydia quickly turn around from the cry Melicent gave out. "ouch! You stupid Wisp" Nydia pulled out a wisp spray, speed walk back to Melicent and sprayed it on her arm. Her round plain face filled with sour pain when the liquid reaches her injury. Despite this she smiled and said, "But you are caring, I am so happy that only I see this secret part of you, ehehe. I feel so special," Nydia smiles at her with her slim face and brownish blue eyes.

At this moment in time, Nydia is thinking that she does not want anything to do with special adventure but just to live a quite peaceful life with her best friend Melicent. But she does not know that one person can destroy this peaceful life she was planning to have.

Nydia enter into the classroom fill with tables and chairs group together with 6 student seating on each of them. When she looks at the students all their wrist is coiled around with red thread. Ever since she was small she can see what people call them, 'the red string of fate'. Or 'the red string of destiny'. It is a Chinese myth about a god of love and marriage ties red cords around a couple ankles that is destined to be together. No one can see them apart from her.  After an accident in primary school she never wanted to talk about her power to see the red string ever again.

Melicent jumps into the room from behind Nydia and shouted, "Morning everyone! Did you miss me?"

Everyone went silent and stared blankly at Melicent face.  She wore a worried expression and confusedly said, "Guys? What happened? Is there something on my face?"

There was a slight giggle at the back, and everyone burst into laughter. And all shouted at the same time, "Good morning Mell! We got you there. Ahaha! You are the same for 5 years!" they all know each other since they came in to this school when they are year 7.

"You lot are such cheeky monkeys!" as she said this she pounce on her class mates and pitch their cheeks. At this moment in time the teacher walks in, everyone naturally sits down like they know exactly where all their classmates sit.

The teacher spoke up and said, "Everyone, we have a new student. He knows nothing about this school so please look after him." When the female teacher finished speaking, the male student with short spiky blonde hair said cheerfully, "Hello everyone! My name is Jericho, but please called me Jerry," he smiles and winks.

Everyone talked among themselves and saying things like, "he is handsome!", "ahaha! There is another cheerful person in the classroom; it will be like a zoo!"

The teacher signal the students to be quite and told Jerry to sit down at a seat that is empty. He swing his head around the room in search for an empty seat, after a while his head stop and look towards the direction of Nydia and Mell, and then walks closer to her and sits down. Nydia looks at his wrist, there is something very shocking. She cannot see his red thread! How come? What is going on? Is her power not working? She looks around the room to check. She starts looking from the left of the room, slowly moving her head in a clockwise direction to the last student and swings her head to the teacher. They all have the red thread. How come he does not? Her eyes return back to his wrist, his hands looks like he is fiddling with something. Nydia looks up to his finger. His fingers are curling around the red thread. What? Nydia is in shock at this moment in time. How come he can touch the thread? She cannot touch it only see it. But putting that aside he is changing the course of the thread! She follow the line of the thread to see who it belongs to. Quickly tracing it, Nydia's eyes widen in shock, she jumps up without thinking while hit the table with her palm, and yell at Jerry, "Stop it!"

Everyone looks at Nydia in shock and surprised at her reaction, since she is not the type to have any reaction what so ever from people actions and behaviour.

 The teacher spoke up with a firm tone to control the situation, "Nydia, sit down, you are in class." She changed her tone to a mocking joking tone, "Even though Jerry is flirting with you, you don't have to give such a big reaction."

Everyone laughed in the classroom. Nydia just noticed what she has done and quickly sit down. Nydia at this moment thought, 'this is bad, i should not have done that. He might know I can see the thread and my secret of being able to see the red thread will be revealed and my peaceful life will be over! But if I did not stop him at that time he will keep playing around with Mell's thread!'

From Nydia's shocked reaction, will Kerry find out about her secret?
