Alicia smiled a little, before looking down at her menu.
"So, is everyone ready to order?" I asked the table in my go-to customer service voice.
Going around the table, I noted down everyone's orders before returning to the kitchen to give them the order, but not without making sure to add an extra slice of extra cheesy garlic bread with Alicia's pasta, as always. I made up everyone's drinks before serving them, then continued to wait on a few other tables before Alicia's table's food was done.
"...and for you, a chicken tomato pasta bake with garlic bread," I finished handing out the orders, setting Alicia's plate down last.
She glanced up at me with a quirked brow, already spotting the extra slice. "You spoil me. Truly."
"Hey, favourite customers get privileges," I reminded her, and it brought a lovely grin to her lips before she tucked in.
The diner was a little dead after that, so Mona and I passed time as we chatted by the bar. Only, our boss caught wind of it and ordered us back to work, meaning I had to go back to Alicia's table to check if they needed anything else. A few wanted some more drinks, so I roped Mona into helping me out as we made up a tray.
"Here you go," I said as I began to hand out some glasses and grab the empty ones.
"Alicia, hey!" Mona greeted the brunette as she replaced some sauces on their table.
Alicia and all the other Clarks had met Mona before, about a month ago, so it wasn't odd for them to interact.
"Hey," Alicia returned with a small smile.
"She's not spoiling you again, is she?" Mona joked, nudging me in the side. "She'd do anything for her best friend's little sister. Little Leashy, right, Y/N?"
I rolled my eyes, embarrassed. "Shut up."
"I'm not a kid, you know," Alicia mumbled, but I heard it.
"Of course not, Alicia, she's just kidding," I assured her, playfully shooting Mona a glare.
"One year difference," Alicia muttered under her breath, a frown on her lips as she focused on her food.
I realised she was a little more offended than I thought, but now wasn't the time to ask her if she was okay, not with all of her friends and Mona watching. So, Mona and I left them to it as we went back to work. Eventually, Alicia's table finished and came up to the bar to pay for their orders individually. Alicia was the last one to pay, so I took this as my chance to check in.
"Hey, are you okay?" I asked as she left some cash on the counter.
She hummed as I used the till, giving her the correct amount of change.
"Mona didn't mean to offend you," I said guiltily. "It was just a joke."
She forced a smile as she met my eyes, but I saw right through it. "She didn't, don't worry. It's fine."
"Because it's true, you know," I continued, hoping to assure her.
"What?"
