Fading Memories

They claim I am their father,

Yet their names elude the grasp of my memory.

She insists she's my wife,

Yet my wedding day remains a forgotten haze.

The look on their faces is one of dread and sorrow.

I don't even know if I'll wake up tomorrow.

As the day passes by, I see defeat in their eyes,

The pain of losing the person they once knew becomes clearer every day.

That person is long gone, leaving behind a mere shell,

Where a heart used to reside, now exists only an empty space.

All memories are lost; gone are the best parts of my life.
