Hajime let out a sigh as he looked at his reflection in the mirror. It was his first day back on Hope's Peak school grounds, having hardly unpacked any of his belongings in his dorm. Boxes upon boxes of objects sprawled all across the dorm's floor, still untouched as he never found the motivation to tend to any of them yet.
Last year, he applied in the school's exchange program, meaning he had a chance to spend a full year in a class of amazingly talented people. To say he was overjoyed to be accepted in such an environment was an understatement.
It was still the middle of July when he received the email from the school's headmaster, Jin Kirigiri, in which it was clearly stating that he would be spending the year with class 77. Hajime even felt the need to have other's read out the email to him, as he couldn't believe how lucky he was to be accepted.
As he brushed his dark locks of hair, he began to wonder. Feeling his hands getting clammy from the utter anxiety he was feeling, thinking that maybe he shouldn't have applied after all. He was the definition of normal, ordinary. There was nothing special about him, he would simply have to stain a perfect class of Ultimates with his normalcy. What if these people don't want to have anything to do with him in the first place?
Hajime shook off the thought as he finally managed to make his hair look somewhat decent, furrowing his brows at the way one particular strand would stick up at the top of his head. He could never get it to stay down, it was incredibly stubborn, so he simply decided to give up on it.
Throwing his bag over his shoulder, he began walking towards the school itself.
Hajime stood in front of the door for quite a while. There was commotion going on on the other side, which made gave the boy all the more reason to be nervous. He quickly wiped a way a bead of sweat that was threatening to roll down his face, taking quick note of how silly he was behaving.
Swallowing down all of his troubles, he opened the door and the sight in front of him left him wondering if he had the right classroom.
Everyone was gathered in front of a specific desk in the back of the classroom, seemingly trying to hide something. The classroom was beautifully decorated, he quickly took notice. The walls were covered with a lot of back to school announcements and wishes of good fortune for the school year, but also colorful garlands, bringing color to the gloomy aesthetic of the classroom. On the back wall was a greatly bigger poster, which read "Welcome to class 77-B, Hajime!".
"You idiots! That's the guy!" A young, blonde boy spoke, his eyebrows furrowing together in frustration, following by him clenching his fist. Upon hearing that, a girl with black hair and streaks of white, pink and blue dashed to Hajime. Up close, you could see different facial piercings embellishing her fearures.
"Welcome, Hajime!" She greeted, throwing her arm around Hajime's neck. Everyone started to surround the boy in question, and he couldn't help feeling embarrassed and overwhelmed, his cheeks going to a hue of red.
"We're glad to have you." A girl with pink hair spoke, placing a hand on her chest. "I am Chiaki Nanami, the Ultimate Gamer. I'm the representative of this class." Her voice was sweet, with a soft tune, it was pleasant to the ear, Hajime quickly noted. He smiled, reaching out his hand.
"I'm Hajime Hinata! But... It looks like you all already know that..." Hajime smiled awkwardly, feeling the softness of Chiaki's palm meeting his, completing the handshake.
Chiaki beckoned Hajime to come to the back of the class, and Hajime's eyes widened just slightly to see a cake placed on what seemed to be his new desk for the year. That's why they were all hovering over it before, they all took the time to place different ornaments on it, ornaments that resembled their ultimate.
