Just before she could open the seal of the cup, her mother stormed inside the lawn out of nowhere and snatched the cup from her startling both of them.

"Ice-cream?! How irresponsible more can you be? Do you even realise what's tomorrow? Huh?!" Mangalam scolded her daughter, without sparing the surroundings. Tears pooled in Anusha's orbs as she looked around and saw the curious eyes of her relatives focused on her, waiting for the drama.

"Maa! Please! Stop shouting on her. Everyone's watching!" Aadi alerted, keeping his voice as low as possible.

"Let them! I don't care!" She snapped, then turning to her daughter she asked-

"You! Want to get sick? How dare to think of having an ice cream today, with your engagement being scheduled tomorrow? Huh!" She yelled.

"Maa, you didn't even let her have it. She didn't even open it's cap." Aadi pointed out being frustrated with his mother's behaviour.

"Ohh! Now I'm at fault.. isn't it?" Mangalam scoffed at his son.

"Amma! Sorry!" Anusha apologized not wanting to prolong their fight. Aadi let out a frustrated sigh seeing his sister's compromising nature. He wanted her to fight for her rights, this behaviour of hers always worried him.

"Illa di! Sorry kekatha!" He stopped her abruptly. This irked Mangalam even more but before she could say anything, he turned to the onlookers and politely dispersed them. [No, don't apologise]

"Aadi! No need to show her any pity.!"

"Maa, she isn't at fault. It was me who gave her the ice-cream. Scold me all you want, but not a word to her." He said with finality.

Mangalam was taken aback at his son's sudden confession.

"What? You bought her? What's wrong with you! Don't you know she gets cold very easily? Do you want to make us a laughing stock in front of her in-laws?" She asks, but her voice is comparatively lower than the tone she used with Anusha.

"Amma, how is this even related to that!?" He asked shocked at his mother's inference.

"It is related. What if she catches cold and falls sick tomorrow.. and what if her in laws take it as a bad omen? I can't afford to let anything go wrong tomorrow! Understood?

"No need to pamper her. She isn't going to get the same treatment in her laws! I've told this about 'n' no. of times to you and your father, but still you both never listen!" She huffed in irritation.

"Amma, please give a break to your what ifs and buts. Let Dolly enjoy her last few days in her mother's house! If you keep scolding her for every single thing, then she'll think it's better to get rid of here and may never visit us again once she leaves to her husband's home." Aadi gave her a piece of his mind before following his sister who left sometime back.

-The Engagement Day-
-Janani's House-

"En pondatti azhagu di" Kowshik complimented his wife as came out of the bathroom finishing his morning chores and saw her getting ready for the engagement. She was yet to apply her makeup and do her hair. [My wife is a beauty!]

Swetha saw him through the mirror and gave a small smile but that didn't reach her eyes. He understood something was wrong with her. Moreover, he guessed what it was. This was a routine dilemma which Swetha was facing for the past couple of years.

"What? Again afraid of others talks?" He asked looking at her through the mirror. Her smile vanished and she averted her gaze without any reply. He went near her slowly and twirled her to his side and pulled her closer by her waist.

"Look." He said as her made her look in to his eyes. She looked at him rather hesistantly.

"I'm least bothered about what others think! And you shouldn't be any different. Don't let others thoughts rule your mind." He advised as he pecked her forehead lightly.

But by the look on her face, he knows she wasn't convinced. She was still worried to attend the function, because of the questions she has to face from his relatives.

"Kowshi... I.. I am not coming for the function... can you go with others..?" she asked fidgeting with her pallu.

"No! You are coming and that's final" he declared as he went to get ready without listening to her any of her requests.

"Kowshik, please.. understand na.. they'll again ask about children and pregnancy! What will I tell them? How will I face them?" she asked feeling afraid.

"Whoever asks you, tell them to ask me. I'll answer them personally." he replied in a stern voice.

"Kowshik.. you don't understand.. It's not as easy as you say..---- before she could complete her sentence, they heard Janani's voice at the door.

"Anni! Can I come in?" Kowshik asked Swetha to keep quiet and called Janani inside. Stepping inside Janani quickly realized something was off between the two and decided to distract them instead.

"Anni... if you done draping your saree, come with me. I can't drape mine. I'm playing wwf with it for the last half an hour." she complained.

"Yes, you go and help her meanwhile I'll get ready." Kowshik said and sent them away.

-After an Hour-

All five of them got ready and left for the venue in Kowshik's car. They reached the venue pretty soon. The groom side was yet to arrive, already the preparations were in full swing. Kathir welcomed the whole family happily and Raghu was overjoyed to reunite with his friend, so were the others.

Kathir made them get settled comfortably before he went to see the other guests. Janani who was curious to meet Anu, excused herself and went in search of her room.

When she was strolling through the balcony in search of her friend, she was suddenly pulled in to a secluded room by a man. Befiore she could call for help, he shut her mouth tightly with his hands, muffling her voice.
