'Demons. Everywhere.'

She dared not move a muscle or even breathe.

They were rummaging through everything in the home she had made on Earth during her stay.

She was still waiting for Michael, he had told her to stay in the safe room until he came for her.

Smash!

Her head whipped to the wall were the noises were coming from.

Breath held, she turned to the peek through the hole in the wall.

What she saw horrified her to no end.

In the center of the room Michael hung by his beautiful white wings.

Gabrielle stifled a sob. He was beaten bloody from the whippings.

His right eye was swollen shut, from the beatings they so gladly gave, only revealing one grey eye.

Deep bloody gashes ran up and down his body.

She retched.

All heads in the room snapped towards the wall where the safe door was hidden.

Gasping she backed up until her frail 9 month pregnant body collided with the far wall.

She could hear them scuffling about in the living room.

Quietly she stepped forward and looked through the hole and screamed.

A single blood red eye was staring back at her.

The demon screeched and started tearing at the wall.

Terrified she ran to the back of the room tearing away the blue wallpaper trying to find the window.

Dust and chunks of the wall flew about the room.

Whipping her head around she froze. The demon was sticking his pale hand through the wall reaching towards her.

She ran back and started frantically pounding along the wall trying to break the window.

She heard a smash and then sharp pain.

Hissing she looked at her bleeding hand.

She looked down at her bulging stomach where her unborn lay.

Protecting them was all that mattered. She would die so they could live. Dismissing her bloody hand she went back to work.

She broke away the remaining glass and tore off her shirt throwing it over the windowsill.

Scrambling up onto the windowpane she had glimmer of hope that was quickly diminished, as she found her self stuck in the window.

She squirmed but nothing happened. Someone suddenly grabbed her foot.

"Agh!" She screamed thrashing and kicking at her attacker.

"Be calm my, love. It's just me." Michael whispered.

She sagged in relief. All she wanted to do was to just crawl up with him and sleep for a long time. But it had just begun and she sadly knew in her heart she would never have that again.

"I'm going to push against your feet and you push against my hands on 3." He shouted.

"1. 2. 3!" He pushed at the same time she did and she went sailing through the window.

She ran back over to the window and grabbing his face to kiss him. Not knowing if or when she would see him again.

"I love you, Michael!" She cried.

"I as well my, love." he sadly replied.

"Now run, Gabrielle!" He shouted.

Turning she started to run. Her first thought was to hide. She scoured the treetops eyeing a sturdy looking branch. She unfurled her wings and leapt soundlessly into the trees.
