"Asifa tell me that your ass is ready" my best friend Emily shouts as she enters my apartment. I need to take my spare key because this is getting annoying.

Actually that won't be necessary because I'll be moving out soon. I need to find a place I can afford now that I will be broke.

"I decided to not go, my social battery is really low girl, y'all gonna have to go without me plus I can't stand your friends" I voiced, putting a mouthful of ice cream in my mouth.

I steal a quick glance at her, she looks ravishing, she's wearing a mini-denim skirt with a blue off-shoulder crop top and black heels. Emily is a real life Barbie with blonde hair and blue eyes.

She walks over to the kitchen where I'm standing, with a shocked expression once she sees what I'm wearing.

"What the fuck are you wearing, I told you really nicely to dress up 3 fucking hours ago Asifa!"

"I already told you that my soci-" Before I even finish what's on my mind she interrupts, "don't tell me that shit, I'm tired of you feeling sad for yourself, sitting all day eating that ice cream and watching weird ass crime stories. You are not the first person to fail and you won't be the last...suck it up and keep moving"

Her words strike up a nerve and I get mad instantly. But I know she's right...I should move on and do something with my life, but I'm still mad that she brought it up on a Friday night. I've been really trying hard to forget about my sad life, I try to block everything to a point were I get shocked when someone brings up my shit...it feels like it's new information. I failed my second year studying BSc in Geology and now I have lost a bursary that payed for everything. That's basically how I ended up being broke.

I know I fucked up and took an opportunity that I was given for granted and I regret it. I hardly studied I don't know why I lacked motivation to study when I knew exactly that I don't have any talents so education is definitely my only option to escape poverty. But I still did not study.

So since I received the news two weeks ago about the bursary, I've been miserable and the last thing that I needed was being around people. I just do not want people judging me because I'm already judging my self and that is way enough.

"Emily you just don't get it, you are not the one who failed and I'm not gonna waste my breath explaining to you" I reason with her.

She walks and stands in front of me,
"Asifa you are stressing me the fuck out, I told you I will speak to my dad and ask him to sponsor you"

"I'm not a charity case and I don't wanna be a burden to anyone...including you" I said while taking my eyes off her and focusing on my vanilla ice cream.

"I've already made reservations for four people...I used the money I was saving to donate in.." she lied.

I glare at her in defeat, she always pulls that shit, "Girl you know your ass is lying" I sigh and point at her using my spoon, "I see you not gonna drop this so I'll come with you just because you have already made reservations and it's the last time, I'm serious Emily" I close the ice cream putting it back to the fridge.

"See that's my Asifa! You will have a great time I promise, just wear something really cute" she squealed and did some weird ass happy dance.

I decided to wear a short black dress, it literally fits my body like it was made for it. That's why I wear it so often when I go out.

When we arrived in the restaurant Emily's friends had not arrived yet.

This restaurant is really fancy, I thought we would be going to Ruby's burger spot or something like that. But I don't know why I'm even shocked that we are having dinner here after all Emily's dad runs a multimillion business and her friends are rich just like her.

We have been waiting for 30 minutes now and they still have not arrived. "Emily we should order, I'm hungry" I complain.

"Asifa they are coming, just chill girl. We are definitely not eating before they arrive that's rude" she said looking annoyed.

I furrow my eyebrows and glare at her in disbelief, "What's rude is you inviting me here and starving me to death while I could have just stayed in my apartment watching a crime story with a not hungry stomach"

"You would starve eventually, you don't have money Asifa" she scoffed.

I could not even get a chance to process what she just said, when her friends approached us in a blink.

"Emily oh my God you look so lovely as usual. Did you get that Chanel bag that I sent" Abigail asked with an unnecessarily high pitched tone.

"Abigail, Page it's so good to see you guys, I missed you two and yes I did receive the bag Abigail but I definitely do not like that colour" Emily said, hugging them.

"Emily you do look good, you are really glowing and I did tell her that you do not like the colour orange but you know Abigail listens to no one" she giggled, As they both took a sit.

"Thank you... I do look good" She grinned.

"Have you ordered yet? I am craving something I've never eaten I hope the chefs here know their stuff" Page says looking at Emily.

"No we wanted to wait for you two, we probably should order now then" Emily answers and motions to the waiter to come.

So after we ordered they continued talking as if I wasn't in the room but I honestly did not mind. I ate my meal in peace.

We placed our orders for dessert and while waiting Page looked at me for the first time since they arrived.

"Assia I see you are ordering expensive things are you going to pay for them?" She asks with a smile on her face that looks genuine but I know it's not. Before I even answer Emily beats me to it.

"No she won't I invited her, therefore I'm responsible for paying".

"Of course you will pay, you always help people. You have a good heart Emily and some people might take it for granted" Page said, sipping her wine.

"You have always been such a generous person Emily and that is one of the things I like about you...you're always helping out the poor" Abigail voiced.

"You know what I am gonna call it a night, Emily I will see you later" I said standing up and grabbing my purse. I knew if I stayed I would end up beating these brats and probably end up being sued and thrown to jail for beating rich white girls.

"Asifa wait!" Emily called after me, I ignored her and continued walking until I reached the exit.

I decided to not get into a taxi but to walk instead. The streets were not really busy, the wasn't a lot of people probably because this place consist of expensive places just like that restaurant and it's late now.

I spotted a club and decided to go in, I really need a drink, I will probably just have one drink.
