Start from the beginning

I sighed deeply as I powered off my phone. The last thing I needed to see was strangers attacking my friend for spending time with me or asking me questions about my friends that really has nothing to do with them. I had been in a relationship before, and we ended up breaking up due to not feeling like we could actually be "left alone" with each other. The constant questions about what the other was person doing, and the trains of hate that came when either of us did something that complete strangers didn't like. I was entirely too much, so we parted ways. I wasn't ready for it to happen again so soon.

"Oh...Well shit," he mutters as he continues shading the art in his sketchbook. "Well it's fine, just ignore them. We know we're not dating, so honestly it shouldn't matter what they theorize." He states with a small shrug of his shoulders.

"Oh I'm not worried about that, that's not the problem at all. The problem is, every fanbase has its weirdos. I'm no exception. I just don't want people to harass you for answers or simply existing." I explain as I examine the posters on the far side of his room. "I know how exhausting it is to not be bombarded by questions regarding a topic that's just...normal." I sigh as I jump down on Miles's bed beside him.

"Trust me, I have no problem ignoring someone's questions. Now c'mon let's go make something so you can calm down." He reassured as he got up, closed his book, and set away his art supplies.

I take a deep breath in and exhale slowly to calm myself down. In truth, maybe I was overreacting a little bit. "Yeah...Yeah, let's bake somethin'." I murmur as I follow him out of his room and into his kitchen, where Mrs. Morales was talking to Jeff with two small mugs in her hands.

"Hey! I made you guys tea." She said softly, giving us each our own respective mug. "I was just talking to Jeff about his recent case, we'll be up in our room getting ready for bed if you need anything." She smiled as she made her way up the stairs. I gave a brief hello and made a little bit of small talk with Mr. Morales before joining Miles in the kitchen, who was currently scrolling on Google looking for a baked goods recipe. I tap his shoulder twice briefly, pointing at the 'Lemon Lavender cookies' recipe. "And then we can shape them into stars or hearts!" I cheer.

"Yeah, those do look pretty good...Aight let's make 'em!" He exclaims as he claps his hands together once before getting out the necessary ingredients for the cookies. I begin whisking together the wet ingredients as Miles figures out the wet ingredients, spilling vanilla extract, getting eggshells in the bowl, and spilling an abnormal amount of milk in the process. He then proceeded to whisk it all aggressively, splashing the mixture a bit.

"Yo, nigga what the fuck is you doing! You can't mix?" I laugh as I stare at the bowl, wide-eyed and afraid as it tips in every direction known to man. Miles scoffs before he lets out a low chuckle, shaking his head lightly.

"Nah I don't really know what I'm doing." He confesses as he sets the whisk in the bowl, crossing his arms tightly against his chest.

"Move," I state, picking up the whisk and motioning for him to come closer. "When you whisk, you wanna take your dominant hand and whisk with circular motions. Use your other hand to hold the bowl. Tilt it forward slightly if you want everything to be in one location, this just makes it easier for me." I explain as I whisk the mixture slowly. I hand him the whisk before going back to my side of the counter, adding the lavender, and waiting for Miles to finish combining the wet ingredients. Once he finishes with his portion of work, he moves over to pour the wet ingredients into my bowl. I began mixing the ingredients together before bursting out in laughter, covering my mouth and muffling myself so as to not wake his parents. Like a chain reaction, Miles bursts out into the same muffled sputters of laughter as he attempted to ask me what was so funny through broken sobs.
