M'gann leaned closer to Spider-Man, who was standing beside her, "This must be tough for you." she whispered.

He shook his head and looked at her, "No, no. It's fine. I can... think about other things." he replied, but M'gann eyed him suspiciously.

Roy began to walk away back to the Zeta Tube, but Kaldur stopped him by speaking up, "You came here for a reason," he told him.

"Yeah, a reason named Dr. Serling Roquette." Roy admitted and Robin immediately tensed at the name as Spider-Man also recognized it,

Spider-Man stepped up as Robin began typing on his Hologlove, "She's a Nanorobotics genius and claytronics expert at Royal University in Star City!" he spoke up. Everyone looked at him awkwardly, surprised that he already knew her. Spider-Man put his hand behind his head, "II know a lot of scientists... I'm a fan..." he added.

"Yeah..." Robin said awkwardly before everyone looked back at Robin as he spoke, "She vanished two weeks ago." he added.

"Abducted two weeks ago by the League of Shadows." Roy corrected.

Robin was immediately overjoyed, "Whoa! You want us to rescue her from the Shadows?" he asked as he, Miss Martian, and Wally stepped up.

"Hardcore." Wally said as he and Robin fist bumped each other.

Roy replied tensely, "I already rescued her." he said as he walked up to lined up Holoscreens of the doctor, "Only one problem," He took out a small gray box which brought up larger HoloScreens that was displayed behind him, "The Shadows had already coerced her into creating a weapon." He looked up at the screen displayed, "Doc calls it The Fog, comprised of millions of microscopic robots. Nanotech infiltrators capable of disintegrating anything in their path. Concrete, steel, flesh, bone. But its true purpose isn't mere destruction. It's theft. The infiltrators eat and store raw data from any computer system and deliver the stolen intel to the Shadows, providing them access to weapons, strategic defense, cutting-edge science and tech."

"Perfect for extortion, manipulation, power broking." Artemis added as Wally stared at her with an angry look on his face, a knowing look from Robin, and a look of awe on Spider-Man's face. "Yeah, sounds like the Shadows."

"Like you know anything about the Shadows." Wally scoffed with a smirk on his face. What he didn't expect was for her to smirk knowingly at him from over her shoulder. His smirk was wiped off his face and replaced with one of confusion before he yelled out, "Who are you???"

"Roquette's working on a virus to render The Fog inert." Roy continued, ignoring the argument.

"But if the Shadows know she can do that..." Robin began quietly.

"They'll target her." He completed, agreeing with him, "Right now she's off the grid. I stashed her at the high school's computer lab." A picture of the high school was displayed.

"You left her alone?" Green Arrow questioned, shocked by her actions.

"She's safe enough for now." Roy replied.

"Then let's you and I keep her that way." Green Arrow offered as he stepped closer to his ex-protégé.

"You and I?" Roy questioned angrily and shockingly, "Don't you wanna take your new protégé?"

Green Arrow took a step closer to say something, but Batman held him back  by putting his hand on his shoulder, stopping the archer from moving any closer and stopping him in his tracks. he glanced at the Dark Knight before he looked back at Roy, "You brought this to the team. It's their mission which means it's hers now too." he explained calmly.

Roy scoffed, "Pfft! Then my job's done." he replied before he walked back to the Zeta Tubes.

Speedy-

"That's Red Arrow, B06. Update." Roy corrected as he looked up at the top of the Zeta Tube. The Tube beeped before it transported him away.

they all watched him leave before Wally looked at Artemis with a glare. M'gann and Spider-Man noticed with M'gann confused so she looked away. Spider-Man stepped up beside her, blocking Wally and Artemis from viewing each other. She looked up at him and nodded at him, thanking him. He nodded back as he looked at Wally and sent him a glare, causing him to quickly look away.

Now THAT, M'gann noticed. If maybe she got them close enough, maybe that could help him move on and stop him from going too far. She could already tell how much Spider-Man wouldn't quip as much as was sometimes too serious than usual. Like in Hell's Kitchen. She could be one of the best things that happened to him.

2 Months from now,

Artemis in her casual clothes walked into Peter's room. She noticed him sitting on his bed with his back turned against her and the door. He was wearing a black shirt with a blue denim jeans. His hair was also hanging over his forehead. He knew she was there, but he stayed silent.

Artemis also stayed silent, not knowing what to say. She shut the door, "Peter... I-"

"You're what?" he replied angrily.

"I'm... I'm sorry about-" Artemis tried to say, but Peter quickly stood up and faced her.

"Don't." he ordered as he held his finger up, "Don't even try to say anything."

Artemis looked down, "Okay..." she replied.

He started breathing heavily, "You were supposed to be there..." Artemis tried to say something, but Peter again shut her up, "You were supposed to be with her!" he exclaimed.

She looked up at him with guilt written across her face, "You're right. I was. And I'm sor-"

"No. You don't get to apologize. Instead, you know where you were?" He sarcastically asked. Artemis was silent, "You were with Wally."

"Look, Peter, I can explain-" Artemis again tried to say.

"Explain what?? That you have feelings for him??" He questioned as he stepped closer to her.

"Peter. You know I don't." she replied.

He shook his head, "Do I though?" he asked as he got even closer and cocked his head, making her step back against the wall.

"Peter... You're scaring me." She told him.

He was now completely in front of her so that they were now face-to-face. She could feel his breath as they stared into each other's eyes, "Maybe that's how I need to do things for now on." he replied, his voice getting darker as he spoke. She suddenly noticed his eyes fade like a goo from pure black with hints of white, then back to his normal eye colour.

She cocked her head, "Pete... You're not okay." she tried to say.

He stepped back with a scoff and a smile, "Not okay?"

Suddenly, a black goo began to surround every inch of his body. After the transformation, the goo completely covered him to now show a black and white version of hi Spider-Man suit.

Artemis looked in horror as he clenched his fists, "I've never felt more better
