Poem: Exile (inspired by Taylor Swift's 'exile')

I walked the long road
From freedom's path
As my naked feet dragged on behind the guards.

Countless queens saw this scene before
But they didn't like the ending.
History books foretold of a king's arrogance
And a queen's love
But we weren't the same.
Were we?

I saw the new queen
Bowing to her majesty,
In my heart I swore silently
"my son will one day avenge me".

Then I saw you,
The object of my affection.
I begged to say my final words
To you the love of my life.

"I'm no longer your problem.
Please take care of our son."
You nodded.
"You were my crown" I screamed
As the guards dragged me away.

Countless queens have felt
This feeling.
And the people?
They never liked the ending.
