Start from the beginning

"Congratulations you two.
It's a little boy."

But the two new parents
weren't listening at all.

Jisung was crying helplessly
as he rubbed the towel over
his tiny son's back, letting his
tears of pure relief fall now
that it was finally over.

And Minho couldn't stop rambling
how much he loved his husband.

They had prepared themselves
for 40 weeks and 13 hours for this
moment but now that it was here,
both didn't know how to deal with it.

So they just cried.

They cried together as they
stared at their tiny wailing son,
unable to believe that this was
the tiny human they had patiently
waited for such a long time.

"Hey there, tiny kitten..
Welcome to the world."

Minho smiled widely as his tears
fell without a break, his eyes
never leaving their child.

"You.. You did it, Sungie.
You did it, my love.
I'm so proud of you.."

He placed a soft kiss on Jisung's
sweaty temple and placed his
hand over the younger's that was
resting on their baby's back.

"Min, he's.. He's so tiny."

"He is, love.
Our tiny kitten, hm?"

The little boy on the brunette's
chest had slowly calmed down
and was now only whimpering
quietly as he moved his tiny limbs
helplessly, his head resting on
his mommy's warm chest.

"Mr Lee? Do you want to
cut the umbilical cord?"

Jeongin smiled at the emotional
couple in front of him as he
prepared the things he'd need
once the last physical connection
of mother and baby was cut.

Minho nodded softly but didn't
make any attempt to move from
where he was sitting beside his
husband so the midwife carefully
turned the baby on his back so he
could strangulate the umbilical cord
and handed Minho the scissors.

"Just cut it here, it doesn't hurt him,
don't worry. And it's stronger
than you think."

"I always knew he had a strong
bond with his mommy."

The ravenette chuckled when
he cut it but Jisung was too tired
to actually react to that.

He was resting his head on his
husband's shoulder as he caressed
his baby's back gently, his eyes half
closed but he still couldn't stop
staring at their little kitten.

"I'll take him from you now, okay?
We gotta weight and clean up
this little bean, hm? Does the little
prince have a name already?"

And Jisung only smiled sleepily
as he nodded, giving his husband a
gentle nudge so Minho could say it.

He had been the one suggesting
the name after all.

"Han-Lee Akemi."

Bright and beautiful.

He was, their little kitten.

"Oh, a Japanese one.
A very beautiful name for
a pretty little boy."

While Jeongin cleaned up their
little one who had started to protest
again about getting separated from
his parents, Jisung whimpered
quietly when he could feel the
muscles in his tummy tense again.

And here he thought he
was finally done.

But it was important that he'd
get the afterbirth out, an infection
was really the last thing he needed.

Fortunately the placenta was
way easier to get out than
a whole little human.

"Min.."

"I know, love. Drink something,
then you can sleep. I'll clean you a
bit and take care of our bub, okay?
But just a small nap, I bet he
wants some milk soon."

But Jisung didn't really listen
anymore, the moment his head
was back on the pillow, he was
far gone into dreamland.

Yeah, being a mommy
was exhausting.
