We walked for some time around the beautiful greens of Pemberley. I watched Eliza's face light up with curiosity or joy as some specific part of the path.

It felt too short as I walked up to the carriage. Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner were already there, eyes twinkling as they beamed at us. I couldn't help but grin back.

I held Eliza's hand as she climbed into the carriage; my heart thundered as she sat down and gave me a grateful smile that made my knees wobble, "I hope we shall meet again very soon," Even my voice sounded pained as I spoke.

A series of emotions flickered on her face, but she said nothing.

"Good day, Mr. Gardiner, Mrs. Gardiner." I acknowledged them both, then to Eliza, "Good day Miss Bennet."

And with that, the carriage launched into motion, and they swept away.

I let out a shaky breath as I watched them leave, but she looked back at me. A different emotion had crept into her eyes, but they turned the corner and were gone before I could place it.
