Suggested backstory: Atoll was laid around 5,042 AS to Queen Anemone and King Sobek (random name generator), but before he could hatch his egg was stolen by a rogue SkyWing who wanted her friend released from jail and had trained her lungs so she could not-breathe for longer than the average dragon. She meant to steal a female, but since she didn't have time before she drowned completely, she accidentally stole Atoll. While being pursued by SeaWing soldiers, she dropped the egg into the marsh, and the soldiers assumed Atoll was dead and killed the SkyWing. He was not dead.
Our story begins with a 3-year-old male MudWing BigWings named Hickory and his siblings, Sorrel, female, Brunette, female, Gator, male, Alder, male, and Toad, male, finding Atoll's egg and taking him in. They name him River, as they found him near a river.
Since I'm feeling motivated, here you go, if you want to use it:
Prologue
Alder was the first one to spot the egg.
To be fair, it wasn't hard; it was a dark grayish-blue, with little hints of a light grayish-green, so it stood out against the brown mud of the swamp, where the six siblings lived.
"Good job, Alder." Hickory told his younger brother, and Alder felt his heart swell with happiness. Hickory was his BigWings, his leader- his siblings' leader. And he was the best BigWings, caring for all of them and pushing them to be their best. When Sorrel was feeling bad that she couldn't get a SeaWing's shape right, he pushed her to try over and over again until it was perfect. When Gator wasn't good at hunting crocodiles, Hickory took him out for an hour to hunt crocodiles. And when Brunette was sad because she lost touch with a friend from another tribe, Hickory let her cry on his shoulder.
He was the best. And Alder had just done something to make him happy. And today was the BEST DAY EVER.
"Is that a SeaWing egg?" Toad asked, being his smart self, like always. He'd learned how to read AGES before any one else, and because of it he'd read the most out of any of his siblings, though Gator was a close second due to his unbelievable willpower and unstoppable drive. "What's it doing here, in the Mud Kingdom?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Brunette asked hypothetically. "It washed ashore through the river and got over here. Maybe its parents didn't want children and they just threw their egg away."
Alder stared at his sister in horror. "That's horrible!"
Hickory nodded, putting a wing over his youngest sibling to give him comfort. "It is. Which is why I think we should adopt this little guy."
"Is that wise?" Toad worried. "What is someone finds out?"
Sorrel laughed and nudged Toad with her shoulder, picking up the SeaWing egg and weighing it in her talons. "Of course it's not wise!" She exclaimed. "It makes up for that by being morally right. Now, what should we name her?"
"Um, how do we know it's a her?" Gator pointed out. "It hasn't even hatched yet."
Sorrel nodded, seeming to think about something as she said, "So a name that can work for both a girl and a boy... and it has to be a SeaWing name..."
"How about River?" Alder suggested. "It's a SeaWing name, it can work for either a girl or a boy, and it's sorta symbolic since we've found him by the river."
A moment of silence passed before Hickory said, "Any objections to River?"
No one spoke for a moment. Hickory then said, "Okay, River it is. Sorrel, can you carry him back home?"
Sorrel nodded and clutched the egg to her chest, taking to the skies with a whoosh. Gator and Brunette quickly followed after, and Toad right after. Hickory turned to Alder and said, "Good job, little bro. Now come on- we're going to need everyone we can get to take care of the little guy." And they took off into the sky, the six siblings high in the bright blue sky, shining in the sunlight.
Little did they know that Queen Anemone was weeping for her lost dragonet, despite the fact that it was male. Little did they knew that King Sobek was killing those who failed to find his son. Little did they know that when the egg hatched into a shiny SeaWing dragonet with star patterns on his wings that the star patterns meant that he was a prince. Little did they know that four other dragonets, two female and two male, were scouring the sea as they flew away, desperately trying to find their little brother, and failing to find the lost prince.
The SeaWing Prince.
