Cage

She felt that she could never be free,
From the darkness that was guaranteed,
She thought that she would never
Get the key,
To release her from her cage.

But then he walked in,
to her cage and found her,
He asked her to come out,
And she replied she didn't know how,
And she couldn't get out on her own,
But no one has bothered to save her.

He smiled and said that he would save her,
But she didn't dare believe him,
Because she didn't want to be hurt again,
And she didn't dare believe he would save her.
So, she didn't let him save her
And turned him away.

But, he didn't give up,
He kept coming to her cage every day,
Staying with her for hours,
Telling how everything was going to be okay
And slowly, she began to see the darkness fade,
And she began to believe he could save her.

As the months passed the darkness faded away,
Until it wasn't there anymore,
Once again, the boy said he would save her,
And show her the world outside of her darkness.

Except this time, she didn't turn him away,
He broke through her cage and set her free,
He showed her what it was like to be loved,
And she finally saw the world outside her cage of darkness.
