I woke up at 6 am, as usual I exercised for an hour before getting ready for school. After making my bed and getting ready I went downstairs and greeted my mother.
"Morning mom, how did you sleep?" I went to the fridge and grabbed some orange juice.
"Morning to you too, I slept good, you?"
She replied with a smile, but there was no fooling me. I could hear it in her voice and how she avoided eye contact. She had that nightmare again, the one with my father.
Ever since he died she had been having nightmares about him. She couldn't stop thinking of him and was always sad and depressed. She always smiled infront of me and other people. She always kept that pain hidden and no one noticed. But I knew that something was wrong. Whenever I brought it up, she'd simply ignore me or avoid my questions.
I walked up to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek while giving a sympathetic smile. "I'm gonna head to school now, are you sure that you should go work today?"
"Yes, I'll be fine" she smiled back. I grabbed my food and headed to school while eating my breakfast.
It was monday again, I hated school. I know what you are thinking. Every kid hates school. Yes but it's more than that. Growing up I always got picked on. I didn't know my father and my mother taught me to never fight. She didn't want me to live with the consequences, like gettting suspended or the bullies retaliating. But that was all in my old school.
Now I went to Arlington high school. It wasn't really a private school but one of the more higher end public school. Ever since coming to this school I haven't told my mother I got bullied again. She suffers enough as it is and she worked really hard to get me in here. So now I'm even more cautious. I can't fight back at all and getting suspended. If they kick me out all my mother's hard earned money would go to waste.
The reason I get bullied here is because I'm poor and since I don't fight back at all it makes me the biggest target in school. For the most part I only get bullied by Blake and his friends. As for others. Most of them just give bad remarks and curse me out or pull little pranks on me. But blake on the other hand is the only one who really beats me up along with his friends...almost every guy in the class is his friend.
So my life was basically miserable at school. My grades aren't great either.
Just as I arrived at the gate the bell rang. (Shit) I ran to the classroom and saw the teacher was already there along with everyone else.
"There you are, late on a Monday? Your grades for my class aren't great as it is. Do you think coming late will help?" The teacher complained. Since the school was a little high end, most teachers here were also somewhat better paid and arrogant pricks. So ofcourse they would pick on me too.
"I'm sorry sir, won't happen again" I mumbled. "What? Speak up, I can't hear you"
I could already see most kids snickering. Ofcourse there were also some students who disagreed with Blake's and the teacher's method. But none dared to stand up and be the target instead. Not of the teacher and not of Blake. That's also a reason why I was friendless.
"I'm sorry sir, It won't happen again." I said a bit louder this time. "Good, then take a seat, you've been keeping the class waiting long enough."
With that I made my way back as I saw Blake and his friends still Chuckle. While some others avoided eye contact.
Then I made eye contact with someone in particular. Grace, the most popular girl in school. Not only of her looks but also because of her intelligence and talents. I had a crush on her but I knew it would never work out, who was I kidding all I could do was admire from afar.
