Bolts of lightning seized his form from the Darth's fingertips. A power that stems from the dark sides of the Force, the lightening was enough to immobilize life forms. If a being was exposed to its power long enough, the lightening can kill those in its hold. But to Malgus' surprise, Jace Malcom resisted the urge to collapse to the pain that raided his body. The Sith could see that the trooper was pulling himself out of the lightening's hold while roaring with strength, so he sent Malcom across the forest and slammed him into a tree.

When Malcom awoke from a short unconciousness, he watched more troopers of the Havoc Squad fall. While Malgus watched, a Sith raised his lightsaber to execute Malcom while he was held between two other Lords. The Commander had lost most of his team and had fought to the end for the Republic, but he was too weak to make an attempt to flee the laser blade that would severe his head from his body.

Before the Sith Lord could execute Malcom, a being landed behind them and caused a rush of energy to shoot through the ground. As if it had a mind of its own, the energy slammed the Sith Lords away from Malcom and left him unharmed from its currents. While the Sith landed in a heap, Malcom turned from his hunched-over position and saw the woman he had been infatuated with; Jedi Knight Satele Shan.

With dark hair and icy eyes, Satele Shan stood to face the evil Darth Malgus. Her double-ended lightsaber that was of an electric blue was gripped in her hand, and Malgus, who had anticipated the arrival of Jedi, glared at her. With the intention to attack, Satele broke into a run without a glance to the Sith Lords and droids that attempted to stop her. She used the trunk of a tree to leap into the air, where her space boot collided with the face of a Sith, before one end of her lightsaber dismantled the head of a droid. When she landed, Satele ducked into a roll as another Sith tried to strike her, before bending down to dodge his blade and attack a Sith that came from her left.

As Sith fell behind her, Satele attacked Darth Malgus. In a flurry of red and blue, the two saber wielders battled in quick steps and killing blows. While Satele used her lightsabers as a staff, with one end to block and the other to attack, Malgus only used one hand in the fight. The power he had in his wrist was enough to bring Satele to her knees, and when his blade pushed down against hers, her face grew hot at the closeness of the molten blade of crimson.

In desperation, Satele raised her hand to the large tree beside her and called to the Force. The thriving entity pulled at her will and bark ripped from its base, causing the tree to fall and force Malgus to leap out of the way. Satele took the opportunity to get back to her feet, which just so happened to be on the trunk of the fallen tree.

With immaculate use of the Force, Satele danced around Malgus as he battled her on the tree trunk. Their lightsabers barely connected, as Satele used the Force as her guide to try for the next attack before Malgus had the chance to put pressure on her weapon.

The Sith grew irritated and shoved Satele off the trunk with an aggressive push of the Force. It took her by surprise, and her back collided with the tree with a loud thud. Darth Malgus leapt into the air and used his one hand to bring down his saber, but Satele gathered herself and leapt out of his line of attack. She flipped over his head, her saber in hand, where she landed behind him ready to attack. But Malgus whipped around and split her saber down the middle, separating the two blades from their attached handle. This stunned Satele, causing her to drop the two sabers and leave an opening for Malgus to initiate a final blow.

With both hands on the handle, Darth Malgus went to drive his saber through Satele Shan's chest, but it was stopped before it could pierce her robes. Cupped in the Shan's hands was a blue ball of the Force that held the tip of Malgus' blade in its swirls of white. The concentrated ball beamed with light and left the palms of Satele's hands unharmed. But although the Force was doing all it could to protect her, Darth Malgus power was overwhelming. Satele's arms shook from the pressure, and from being on her knees, she knew that the Sith had the advantage as he pushed down with his teeth gritted together in concentration. The Jedi was weakening, and she lowered her head as the blade was beginning to break through her centralised swirls of the Force.

At the sight of Satele's weakening, Jace Malcom roared as he ran at the Sith Lord with the remainder of his strength. He shoved the man away from the Jedi, where he tried to overcome Malgus, before his armoured arms were grabbed and held at bay with the strength of the dark side. Malcom struggled to keep his stance, and Malgus appeared to be winning, when the Republican trooper opened his closed palm to reveal a blaster bomb with his thumb on the trigger button.

Before Darth Malgus could escape, the bomb went off and blew the two away from each other in an explosion. Jace Malcom crashed against the forest floor with the side of his face bleeding from the bomb's minor effects. From where he landed, he inched his face up from the grass to see that the Sith Lord had taken most of the bomb's effects. His chest plate had been partially blown open and scorches of black covered his front, and yet, Darth Malgus stood tall with an expression like stone.

While Malcom had distracted the Sith and bought needed time, Satele was able to regain her strength. She stood tall as she powered the Force to her hand, causing the same light from before to form into a ball. With a jerk of her arm, Satele sent the Force into Darth Malgus, where he flew across the forest and collided with the rock wall of a small cliff. The Force ripped at his limbs, face, and the rock behind him, tearing through everything with the power that ran through every inch of the galaxy.

Even as he was being torn apart, Darth Malgus let out a cry as he tried to resist the power of the Force. His mouth had been torn open and his yellow eyes stared into Satele's, who showed no sign of remorse nor mercy. She used her other hand to generate more power, before sending it into the Sith's direction with a forceful grunt. The Force exploded the cliff side, and Darth Malgus was destroyed.

Sol laid down the old book as she sat back in the chair. Since beginning the chapter, the Jedi Order library had emptied, as dinner was about to be served in the cafeteria. Besides some Jedi who were still quietly reading files, Sol was sat at one of the tables alone and in the setting sun. She had placed herself in front of a large window, where she could see the city as the sky turned a light orange with mixes of purple. It allowed her to turn away from the large book she had spent the day invested in, and to watch speeders past the temple in their organised lanes. As she watched, she thought about what she had just read.

The Great Galactic War was known among the Order as the event that gave the galaxy the freedom the Order upholds. They defeated the Sith Empire, and it was believed that the Sith had been destroyed. But this had been proved false with the emergence of separatist activity, and with the appearance of Count Dooku and Darth Maul. The Great War was a reminder of what could occur if the Order didn't attempt to eradicate the Sith-way of life, yet Sol had never heard of the Battle of Alderaan.

The traditional book that held the events of the war contained many mentions of Satele Shan, and it detailed her influence on the turning of the war into the Republic's favour. She was surprised to hear how important Shan was in the book, but was confused as to why she had never heard about her as a youngling, Padawan, or Jed Knight.

How Sol wished she could speak to Satele's ghost and find out what had happened that made the Order erase her from the teachings of the Jedi curriculum. But she didn't know how to call upon her nor where to do so where she couldn't be seen. If no one would tell her, Sol was afraid to ask. She didn't want to draw any more attention to herself while being 'involved' with Anakin in the way that was forbidden, but how would she find out more about Satele Shan? How would she know about Sol's possible relation to her?

'Commander Sol, Master Skywalker sent me to see if you were coming to dinner.'

Perhaps a close Padawan could help her.
