New Girl in Town

When I arrive at the stadium, my nerves and excitement bubble throughout my body. I have this great feeling of a new beginning. I'm also looking forward to meeting everyone today. My horoscope had said:

Libra: You will make multiple unexpected friends today, one of them might not be as welcoming as the rest.

Sure, the last part worried me a little, but I figured one person not wanting me around was something I could handle. I step into the building and find my way around, meeting other staff members along the way. A guy, only a few years older than me, begins talking to me.

"Hey, I'm Chris. You must be Heather." He smiles, and I shake his hand.

"It's nice to meet you, Chris. Are you in journalism too?" I ask and he nods proudly.

"Yes, I am. It's my job to show you around today and introduce you to some other staff members and a few players."

"Okay, so where are we going first?" He gives me a slight smirk before saying,

"I think the locker room is a good place to start. Follow me." I walk behind him as he leads me to the locker room. When we enter, I hear chatter and laughter.

"Chris! You bastard, where have you been?" A male voice shouts out and I hear more laughter. Chris steps aside, chuckling a bit as he reveals that I was behind him. All talking and laughter stops as the guys see me standing there. Thankfully, everyone is dressed (well, semi dressed) and I don't see anything I don't want to see.

"Well, looks like there's a new girl in town. I'm Jordie, it's nice to meet you." One of the players introduces himself and I smile.

"I'm Heather, it's nice to meet you too."

"Heather, this is our captain Jamie." Jordie says, and I smile at Jamie too and he gives me a nod and a grin.

"What's up Heather, I'm Kari. Just call me Lehtonen." Another player introduces himself. There's only four players in the locker room at the moment, and so far only three of them have introduced themselves. I recognize the fourth player though.

"Well, it's nice to meet you guys. I'll be reporting for all of you after games and what not. I'll most likely be interviewing you as well." I inform them, and there's a scoff from the player that didn't introduce himself. The guys give him a look, and he rolls his eyes.

"Oh please. You're really going to report about us?" He says, and I furrow my eyebrows in confusion.

"Excuse me?"

"I bet you don't even know anything about hockey or the Dallas Stars. You don't even know our names." I take in a deep breath, trying to stop myself from freaking out on him.

"Really, that's what you think?" I ask, and he nods his head triumphantly. "Well, as a matter of fact, I know that Jordie and Jamie are brothers, Lehtonen is your starting goalie, and you're Tyler Seguin. Otherwise known as Fuckboy." Trust me, this is me holding back. Tyler stands there, looking at me in shock. The guys all start cracking up.

"Dude, she totally just got you." Jamie laughs. Tyler gives me a dirty look and I grin,

"I always do my research."

"Whatever." He mutters, a small smile lingering on his face and I can't help but chuckle.

"I think the other guys are going to like you." Jordie teases, and I grin. I'm definitely going to like working here.

--------
Jordie, Jamie, Lehtonen and Tyler catch up with me after work and ask me to go out with them.

"I'm sorry guys, I can't tonight." I decline their offer and Tyler pouts.

"Aww, does Miss Prissy have to be in bed early tonight?" He mocks and I roll my eyes.

"Sorry, I'm not a partier like you. I actually have to be up early tomorrow." I reply, making Tyler scoff once again.

"Dude, leave her alone. At least she can respect her job." Lehtonen defends me and I grin at him.

"You can't even come for one little drink?" Jamie asks, seeming like he actually wants me to be there, unlike Tyler.

"I wish I could, but I can't tonight. Maybe another time." I tell him apologetically. He pouts a little,

"Okay, another time for sure then." He then pulls me into a hug, which surprises me, but I hug him back. Jordie and Lehtonen hug me too. Tyler just watches us with his arms crossed.

"I'll see you guys tomorrow at the game. Bye guys, bye Fuckboy." I say. The guys laugh and wave goodbye and Tyler simply turns and starts walking away. I shrug my shoulders and head out to my car. I'm not really phased by his attitude, after all my horoscope is always right.

-------
That night, I lay in bed thinking of today. I'm surprised at how bummed I am that I didn't go out with the boys tonight. I probably would have had a good time, even with Tyler around. I'm just afraid of how far the partying would have gone. I don't drink often, so if I were to get drunk, let's just say things would get way out of hand. Chancy seems to notice my mood and he jumps onto the bed, snuggling with me like he always does. I pet his sweet spot behind his ears and he purrs loudly.

"I'll go out with them next time they ask. That's a good idea, right?" I ask Chancy. Obviously he can't answer me, so I answer myself. "Yeah, I'll do that." I switch off my lamp and try to get some sleep. However, the boy with the full sleeve tattoos fills my mind. If only he wasn't such a jerk, I think I would actually like him. My horoscope did say that not everyone would be welcoming to me today, and as usual it was correct. I can always change that though.
