"Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man. Bake me a cake as fast as you can."

"Roll it, and pat it, and mark it with a B."

Their hands separate with a final clap, and they erupt into fits of giggles, their laughter echoing through the garden. Their friendship has blossomed, strengthening the bond between them. Aemond's crush on Aelara has grown along with it, filling his heart with a warmth that he struggles to comprehend.

As they catch their breath, Aelara turns to Aemond, her eyes shining with affection.

"You're so good at this, Emmie! We make a perfect team, don't we?" She exclaims, her voice brimming with genuine admiration.

Aemond's heart skips a beat at her words, and a shy smile tugs at the corners of his lips.

"Yes, we do," Se responds softly, his gaze fixed on her, unable to tear his eyes away.

The simplicity of their shared moments is what makes their connection so pure. They spend hours exploring the castle's nooks and crannies, embarking on imaginary quests, and sharing secrets under the shade of the ancient trees. Aemond finds solace in Aelara's presence, her vibrant energy and unwavering optimism bringing light into his world.

One day, as they wander through the castle's library, Aelara spots a book with a colorful cover, its pages filled with tales of adventure and magic. She rushes over to it, her eyes widening with excitement.

"Look! This book seems like the perfect adventure for us," She exclaims, her voice brimming with enthusiasm.

Aemond approaches her, his curiosity piqued. He reads the title aloud, his voice filled with anticipation.

"The Lost Kingdom of Serathia," He says, the words resonating with a sense of wonder.

Aelara's eyes gleam with anticipation.

"Let's read it together," She suggests, her voice laced with excitement.

Aemond nods eagerly, a surge of warmth coursing through his veins. They settle into a cozy corner of the library, their heads close together as they immerse themselves in the world of Serathia. Aelara's voice brings the words to life, and Aemond's imagination paints vivid scenes in his mind.

It is perhaps the only way in which he will have a dragon. He is twinged with jealousy. For her 1st name day, Aelara was gifted a dragon's egg. It was as green as the Hightower flame, and from the egg hatched a baby dragon.

Jadeheart.

The once small and meek dragon has grown into a fierce and wildly protective beast. Jadeheart's loyalty lies only with Aelara. He refuses to let anyone else get close to him, which forced the Queen to forbid Aelara from being able to see her beloved dragon. At least until she is older.

Alicent detests the beast. She thinks them to be horrid animals, but cannot deny their strength. She does not understand Aemond's fascination with dragons, but knows her boy to have no bounds. Aemond has tried countless times to get close to Jadeheart, to show his mother that it is perfectly safe for Aelara to be around the beast, but each attempt has only ever ended in failure.

As they read, their shoulders brush against each other, sending electric jolts of excitement through Aemond's body. He steals glances at Aelara when he thinks she isn't looking, memorizing every freckle on her cheeks and the way her golden curls cascade down her back. His heart swells with an affection he can no longer deny.

As the sun begins to set, casting a warm, golden glow over the castle gardens, Aelara and Aemond find themselves seated on a weathered stone bench, their laughter echoing through the air. Aemond watches Aelara with an adoring gaze, captivated by her infectious joy and zest for life. Though his heart swells with affection, he keeps his feelings hidden, afraid of risking their precious friendship.
