Chapter Sixty Five: Rupture.

"HA!" Without an ounce of humbleness, Lily turned to Freya, and an amused look lingered on Freya's face. But Lily had more points to prove and looked straight across to Freya's closest friend. "Regulus?"

"I don't believe in soulmates. This question is stupid." Which it was, having to marry for duty instead of love? Merlin, how out of the ordinary? It was not like for him to marry someone he loved was a death sentence or anything. Forbidden love is such a foreign concept. "She could pick Tom for all I care."

Wide-eyed, Lily looked at Regs incredulously. "The butler?"

Her flabbergasted-ness earned a chuckle from Remus, and Freya turned to Regs. "I thought you didn't read it."

"I may have skimmed it." He drank some of his butterbeer while Freya shook her head at him. The book was not to his taste, but he was bored, and Freya had been out doing Merlin knows what.

Before Lily could enter another rant, a certain champagne-colored hair witch with an oversized sweater quickly slid into the barely existent spot beside Regs. Marlene shielded her face from the rest of the pub by placing her hand on her head and sticking very low to the table and Regs.

His brow raised; he halted his butterbeer from reaching his lips and stared at her. "Hello, Marlene."

"Hi." She said curtly, her eyes glancing over her shoulder before twisting her body to face the side of the table. Finally, she looked at the friends she'd just joined and smiled at them before focusing on the boy beside her. "Merlin, have your cheekbones always been this sharp?"

"I was told I cut my mother on the way out." He remarked, and Freya shot him a glance.

Lily looked at Marlene and then at the rest of the pub, trying to see who or what she was hiding from. "What you doing?"

"Nothing, just visiting some friends." Marlene drummed on the table with her leg bouncing. "Regulus, Freya, Severus, Remus, things going well?" None of them had time to answer since she, having never been physically close to Regulus Black, was fascinated by his face. "Did you become part of Veela or something? Where are your pores?" Regs glance at Freya only to be greeted with an I've been telling you expression. However, Regs did not have her attention for long since a group of students entered the Three Broomsticks, causing Marlene to burrow deeply in her seat and hide her face with her hair. "Shit."

Having been Marlene's roommate for quite some time, Lily was not surprised. "Who are you hiding from this time?"

"Fortescue."

Sev made a face. "The tiny one?"

"Tiny but fierce like a bloody pixie." She explained, seeming to want to be absorbed into the wall. However, the wall had Regs and Freya in front of it, causing them to be progressively more mushed together till Reg's elbow was now a casual resident of Freya's stomach.

Raising a brow, Lily inspected her roommate. "What did you do, Marls?"

"Nothing." She answered quickly, but her body was unnaturally facing the wall though her eyes danced between the group. "What are we talking about?" Before anyone could answer, her attention landed on Remus's chips. "May I?" He didn't have time to respond before she snatched two straight off the plate.

Crossing his arms, he leaned back in his seat. "You do know both Lily and I are prefects, so, by duty, if you did do something and Alice yelled at you in front of us, we'd have to report you."

"Letting your mates off for how many years and turning in little ole' me?" She waved a chip at him. "That's sexist."

"Remus hates women." Regs chimed, grabbing a chip as well.
