Start from the beginning

There was a lot of work to do,
they've been absent for a
few days after all.

"Hi Ji, I'm surprised to see you here!"

Chan's whole face practically
lit up when his eyes fell on
his expecting friend.

"I'm not here to work, I'm here
to steal Bin's boyfriend.
Felix told me that he'd drop
Bin off at the company and I
had to talk with the manager
about something so we
agreed on meeting here.
It's been ages since we two
went out together, such a pity."

"Ah, okay. Have fun then.
By the way, you look really good.
You look well-rested, I assume
your vacation was great?"

"Yeah, it was amazing."

Jisung smiled softly as he
subconsciously tugged on the hem
of his hoodie, his subconscious
mind scared that someone could
notice how his hoodie bulged a little
weirdly around his midsection.

"I'm glad you had a good time,
it was about time that you two
took some time off to breathe
for a moment.
And are you already on uhm..
You know.. Maternity leave?"

Chan whispered the last part
so nobody would hear it.

"Starting from next week, yeah.
There are still a few things I need
to get done but then I'll finally go
rest and spend my days in my
comfy bed just because I can."

"That sounds like a good plan.
Ah, Bin and Felix are here.
So, see you soon?"

"Yeah, see ya.
Good luck with the track."

"Thanks, Ji."

The blonde waved at his friend
before he made his way over to
Felix who was already waiting
with the biggest smile on his face,
his eyes practically shining.

"Ji! It's been so long!"

The freckled male squealed as
he pulled Jisung into a tight hug,
being careful with his belly though.

"Oh my gosh, you have a baby bump.
That's so cute, aww."

"Shhh, most people don't know yet
even if it slowly gets hard to hide it."

"Oh right, I'm sorry.
But I'm so excited, I'm really
so happy for you, Ji. Now let's go,
I picked a café that should be
almost empty at this hour.
I'm so curious about the little one!"

Felix got a hold of his friend's arm so
he could lead him to his car, he had
promised Jisung that he'd drive.

The café had almost no visitors just
like the silver-blonde had promised
and Jisung was really glad about that.

They found a free sitting booth in
the back of the cafe where the blonde
could take his jacket off without
having to worry about someone
seeing his belly but he still sat
close to the table so it was rather
hard to notice the baby bump.

"How far along are you now?"

"23 weeks.
A bit over five months."

"So the baby will come in June, right?"

"Yeah, I'm already looking forward
to giving birth in the summer heat,
it'll be fun. But at least we got air
conditioning in the hospitals,
imagine how it was a few
hundred years ago."

Jisung chuckled softly before
he took a sip of his lemonade.

"Ji?"

"Hm?"

"Can I ask you for a favor?"

"Of course!
Everything okay?"

And although the freckled male
nodded, the frown on his face
said otherwise.

"You know that Binnie is turning
thirty next year too and I've
always wanted to have kids
before I turn thirty.
Which leaves us two years but..
Whenever I bring up the topic,
Binnie disappears as fast as possible.
Honestly I always thought he liked
children so I'm not sure how
to interpret his reaction.

Does he not want kids anymore?
Or am I the reason?"

Jisung sighed softly as he reached
over to hold his friend's hand,
giving it a comforting squeeze.

"Lix, I don't think it's because of you.
Maybe he's just scared and not
ready yet. I mean, even I know
that you always wanted three
children and that's a lot. Raising
kids is a huge responsibility and
it's expensive too, especially in
a big city like Seoul."

"I thought that.. Maybe you
could have a talk with him?
You're one of his closest friends
and I know you struggled a bit
at first too, maybe he can at
least tell you a reason."

"Lix, I don't know.."

"Please, Ji. If he won't talk to me,
that's fine. But he needs to open
up to someone, just like I did now."

There were tears glistening in
the younger's eyes as he begged
but Jisung could only sigh again.

He didn't want to intrude on the
relationship of his friends and this
was a very personal, sensitive topic.

If Changbin already didn't talk to
his significant other, why should he
want to talk to his friend about it?

And it felt wrong to get a proper
answer out of him just because Felix
hadn't gotten that one himself yet.

"I'll ask him if he wants to talk
about it, okay? But I'll be honest
and tell him that you talked to me
about this. You are both my friends,
I love you both a lot so I don't want
to be the bad guy in this."
