A Vex Problem

Chapter 5 -Initiation (Part 2)-

Jaune smiles at Weiss, "Just... dropping in?" Weiss is speechless... and Jaune realizes why when they both look down, "Oh, Oum," They hang on to each other wide-eyed as their moment of suspension ends, their weapons flying behind them, "Oh, nooooooo- Oomph!"

Jaune does a faceplant into the dirt, limbs splayed out, and servers as a the perfect landing spot for Weiss as she falls into a seated position on his body, "My hero," Weiss says mockingly.

"My back..." Jaune groans

The Death Stalker is still hunting Pyrrha which knocks her over to the others feet, they look down at her for a moment, Mystogen assists her on her feet.

"Great! The gang's all here! Now we can die together!" Yang says, mild sarcastic enthusiasm in her voice.

"Not if I can help it!" Ruby says as she lets our a battle cry and rushes towards the Grimm.

"Ruby, wait!" 

"Isn't she reckless," Ghost says.

Ruby, still screaming, fires Crescent Rose and charges at the oncoming Death Stalker. When the two meet, the Grimm swipes Ruby away and she is knocked back, she slowly gets up from the hit, "D-Do-Don't worry! Totally fine!" Ruby turns back to the monster and shoots it in the skull, running away from it and sheathing her scythe as the Death Stalker now goes after her.

Yang and Mystogen begin to run forwards, Mystogen quickly passing her, "Ruby!" Yang calls out.

     Ruby rushes towards the duo, but the Nevermore caws above them, flapping its wings and releasing lines of sharpened feathers with points that catch on Ruby's cape and prevent Yang from reaching her, Mystogen hunter dodges through the feathers and continues to rush towards her.

"Ruby, get out of there!" Yang tells.

Ruby struggles with her cloak, "I'm trying!"

     The Death Stalker approaches, raising its golden stinger above a scared Ruby and heading down on the helpless girl. Mystogen continues to rush forward as an orange glow shines through his fingers as he quickly tosses it over to the Grimm.

"Ruby!" Yang reaches out in vain.

     The fiery ball lands and turns into a ring that goes outward before forming back into a ball in the original location before quickly shooting towards the Death Stalker causing it to flinch in pain and screech as it misses its attack. Mystogen takes the opportunity and quickly cuts the feather freeing Ruby. 

Ruby opens her eyes to the sight of the Death Stalker still screeching in pain from the Solar burn, she lowers her arms from their futile position over her head as she stares at her savior, "Mystogen...?" 

"Come on, we don't got much time," Mystogen says raising Ruby up to her feet, "Try not to show off next time,"

"I'm not trying to show off. I just want to show Wiess and the others I can do this," Ruby says. 

"Well you're fine," Mystogen says as they run back to the others, "There's always a better way and time of showing such,"

Yang meets the two as they rush over and gives Ruby a hug which she grunts at upon receiving, "So happy you're okay," 

Mystogen looks up at the Nevermore still flying overhead and roaring, "Looks like the Nevermore is circling back. Time we make plans,"

"Look, there's no sense in dilly-dallying. Our objective is right in front of us," Wiess says as they look at the relics, excluding Mystogen.

"She's right. Our mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the Cliffs," Ruby says as she nods to Wiess, "There's no point in fighting these things,"
