A Vex Problem

Chapter 5 -Initiation (Part 2)-

     The sky remained clear as the initiation has finally commenced and the new first year students were sent into the great unknown of the Emerald Forest. A black bird is flying and magnificently, right up to the moment it gives a final shriek and Ruby crashes through it in a burst of feathers as she plummets downward.

"Birdie, no!" Ruby yells before firing off a few rounds from Crescent Rose to slow her down, then turn it into its scythe form to catch the branch of a tree in her blade and fall downward at a slower pace.

     Weiss, armed with Myrtenaster, summons a white snowflake circle under her and leaps off into the forest below. Yang, soaring right over the treetop, is using her gauntlets and its fiery force to push her through the air further and further north, spinning and laughing with each blast, even when she crashes through the leaves of a tree and leaps off two trucks to tumble to the ground.

"Nailed it!" She says as she runs off.

     Pyrrha, her weapon in sword form and armed with a shield, crashes through several trees and rolls on a branch, immediately shifting her blade into a rifle and looking through the scope at Jaune as he continues to scream and fall helplessly. Pyrrha coolly transforms her weapon again to its spear form, takes a moment to evaluate her throw, and rockets the javelin deep into the forest until a "THUNK!" is heard.

"Thank you!" Jaune is heard saying in the distance.

"I'm sorry!" She yells out, waving her hand in the air.

     Mystogen is seen soaring through the air, looking at the forest whizzing past him at high speeds as he slowly begins to make his descent down from the launch. As he quickly makes his way to the ground he jumps off thin air causing him to slow down and then he did it once more as the ground grew closer, he lands on his feet as he pulls out Origin Story, as he lowers himself down to one knee and scans the area around him. He lowers the auto rifle as he raised himself back to his feet, as he walks North.

"Thankfully you know your cardinal directions," Ghost pokes verbally at Mystogen, smugness clearly in his voice.

"You aren't going to let that down are you?" Mystogen responds as moves awake the plant growth with his arm.

"You fell off a cliff, I had to resurrect you, I most certainly am not gonna let it down," Ghost replies.

     More movement was heard behind the greenery was heard as Mystogen quickly aimed his rifle towards it as two Beowulf pounce at him which he quicksteps out of their pounce, he spins around and unloads two rounds into one Beowulf while the other charges at him. In his hands an orange glow begins to shine as he throws it fourth which a throwing knife formed and lodges itself into the Grimm's head, it stuns it momentarily which it was about to charge again only for the knife to explode completely removing the head from the equation and for the Grimm to go limp. He lowers his rifle once more as he walks over to the slowly decaying Grimm, he opens his palm and Ghost appears. Ghost circles around the body as he scans it, during their first trip here they attempted to not get into any confrontations to not make any noises so they were unable to scan the Grimm as Ghost wanted. 

Ghost finishes their scans as they disappear once again, "As theorized they resonant very similarly to the Darkness of what we've encountered at home. Though until further research, I can't say for certain if they are made from the Darkness," 

"Guess we'll have to keep a close eye out," Mystogen says as he continues towards the ruins, leaving the decaying Grimm behind.

     As Mystogen continued his path to the ruins, he continued to encounter various Grimm though was quite easily dispatched. At the Beacon Cliff overlooking the Emerald Forest when Glynda walks up behind him, holding her own tablet.
