I peak around my shoulder, and Chris walks up to me. „Haven't talked to you in a while, huh?" I laugh, „Chris, its been like one day." He shrugs, standing next to me and leaning against the counter, making himself comfortable. „So what was the deal when you walked out of the interrogation room? You and Hank looked real mad earlier."

I sigh, collecting my scattered thoughts. I reach out for the mug, waiting for the water to fill it up. I twiddle the handle in between my fingers as I talk. „Just some rich dude complaining about his android." „Mhm," Chris mumbles, „Do you think he is gonna come back in tomorrow?"

I can't help but laugh a little, a small smile peaking onto my face. „Yeah, for sure. Or at least complaining to the higher ups, or something. You won't BELIEVE this, when I told him that he was being stupid, he called me a pretty little lady and he would personally pay me." Chris makes a gagging sound, his hand covering his mouth,"That is disgusting."

„Yeah," I tell him, „Why are all human men such assholes? Like, seriously. I haven't found a single man that has been decent." Chris points to himself, clearly offended. I scoff at him, „You have a wife. I mean, romantically."

He smiles, his mind clearly devious. „What about Hank?"

My jaw drops to the floor.

„CHRIS!!!" I hit him, hard. He laughs loudly, and I feel shivers run down my spine. „YOU ARE SOOOO nasty! Seriously!" Chris laughs some more before pestering on, „Oh, but he has such long, luscious hair-„ „Holy shit I am going to beat the shit out of you."

I see him out of the corner of my eye still giggling, and when my coffee finally finishes, I walk away flipping him off.

By the time I finish my work, its very dark outside. Exactly 11:23 pm. There are only a few of us left in the office, and it is pouring down rain outside. I get up, gathering my things. I try to pace myself, knowing that I might forget something due to my tired state.

When I finally gather everything, I slowly head to the door, waving bye to Hank and Connor, „Bye-„

They rush up, speed running over to me and grabbing their own things. „Wait- I want to pay for your cab." I stand still for a moment, taken aback. They reach me, Hank panting and Connor standing perfectly normal. „We feel bad." Connor says, rubbing his neck slightly.

„Thanks, g-guys.. are you sure Hank?" He nods his head, pushing me to go out the door, „Yes, y/n. Now hurry the fuck out because its almost midnight."

We reach outside, and only a slight cover is above our heads, leaving us getting drenched. Hank complains, but Connor asks me curiously, „Were you going to walk home in this?"

Now its my turn to anxiously rub my neck, „Yeah.. Probably. Thanks again.. It would have sucked to walk home in this weather." Hank nods his head, „Of course. There should be one coming up here soon, they circle this block."

I nod, not really achieving eye contact. It's been awhile since he has done something like this for me, and frankly, it caught me off guard. When I turn back to the two to attempt some conversation, I notice Connors white shirt.

Or rather, the lack.

The rain soaks the white, leaving it slightly transparent and not much up to the imagination. Trying to be as respectful as possible, I keep my eyes at an ungodly high level, practically above his head. Hank talks first, sensing my unease. „Are you gonna get a new car?"

I smile, my eyes squinting. Both from my smile, but also so it is easier to avert my gaze to.. other places. „Yeah, for damn sure. I have some money saved up, but not a lot. Ruby has been breaking down on me a lot, getting a lot of flat tires. She's been in rough shape." I notice Connor tilt his head, so I ask him what's up. He responds with, „You named your car?"

I look at him like he is insane, „Of course! Do you not name inanimate objects?"

As soon as the sentence comes out of my mouth, I realize how utterly stupid I sound. I start to hastily correct myself, my words fumbling from embarrassment, but I notice him smiling. A small, barely noticeable smirk. It leaves my stomach churning, but not in a bad way. Fluttering, perhaps.

I hear a car roll up onto the road, Hank reaching his hand out to signal our stop. The cab slows, and I gather my things again.

„Thanks, a lot guys. Ill... see you tomorrow?"

The two smile at me, Hank handing me the money for the cab.

„See you tomorrow, y/n."
