Hank pipes in from beside me, „So to summarize, you are a rich, self centered 27 year old who is very egotistical and only came here because his android wasn't doing it's every chore?" I hear Connor behind me try to say something, but Nicholas raises his voice at us. „I said she was stealing knifes-!"

„But you aren't threatened?"

My words cut him, leaving him silenced.  When he finally decides to speak, his words come out shallow. His once strong demeanor now sinks into its chair. „Look, all I ask is you do your fucking job and fix it. The android is unhinged, and it should be removed." I sigh, „But Mr.Thompson, we cannot remove an android from your home if it is not causing a threat. You said yourself."

He opens his mouth to speak, but Hank interrupts. „You are giving every single wrong impression. If you would like to submit an actual report without being cocky, then we will gladly accept." He gestures his hands like a curtsy, slowly rising from his chair. I do the same, just minus the hand movements. When I stand, I feel Connor behind me, inches apart.

Nicholas gets desperate, standing, putting his hands on the desk. His eyes rest to a puppy state, „Look, your a beautiful little lady, Ill personally pay you, just please get rid of th-„

The presence behind me gets closer, mere centimeters from my own body. His arms extend slightly, almost protectively. „Officer Y/N is a professional. You will not try to smooth her into a bribery. That is extremely inappropriate," I turn my head slightly, leaning my gaze up so i can see his face. His LED is bright red, gaze stern. Almost like how he was when screaming, interrogating that deviant that killed the Ortiz man. Dominant, powerful. „And we will not accept."

His words hit me...

We will not accept?

What does „we" mean? Connor only says five more words, an order. „You should see yourself out."

His arm tugs my sleeve, ushering me out of the room.

For a moment, the three of us stand silent outside of that room. Hank is the first to talk, his arms crossed across his chest. „Did not like him. When I walked in, it was like I was staring at pure evil. A pure asshole. I did not like any vibe that I got from him." I nod my head, agreeing with him. „Literal creep. The hell was he spewing on about."

Hank sighs, clearly uncomfortable. He notices the stiff air between me and Connor, still only centimeters apart from eachother. He announces he is going to the restroom, practically jogging away from us. I lean my head back against the wall, the weight of the day gathering upon me.

It's silent for a moment before I get the courage to ask, „Why did you do that? Like, stand up for me." I see him turn his body to face me, leaning sideways. His arm holds him steady, and only then I realize how intense he can be. Standing next to me, and I am not even looking at him, but I can feel his gaze burning into me. I am certainly not a tall person, but I am pretty average. He still looms over me.

„I'm not really sure. He just seemed to get a little too close for comfort, his demeanor showed signs of desperation." His answer is simple, but I know that cannot be all there is to it, so I continue to pester. „No, Connor. I could have handled that shit hole myself. Im an officer, I know how to defend myself."

He waits a minute before responding, his voice going a little deeper, more husky, leaving me to be the sole recipient of his words. „Well I didn't like it."
