Château de Chavaniac, the manor house of the Lafayette's royal bloodline, was flanked between black stone towers, nestled within the flowery hills of Auvergne, France. The current head of the household, Edouard Motier de Lafayette, was soon to be preceded by his eldest son, Marie Joseph de Lafayette who was only 19 at the time. Marie was the youngest inherit of the household, his father gaining the land at 35, his father receiving it at 40, and so on and so forth, but Edouard had fallen ill and had to be sent off to Limousin, France, to be properly treated, leaving the land, house, and servants in the hands of his young son.
