CHAPTER ONE

9th September 2022.

Clio POV

I tried to calm myself down as I approached the dark brown gates of Griffon Academy. I was not too fond of this enormous gate because of its intimidating height, structure, and workmanship. It just made people like me feel they didn't belong in this kind of place not that I would ever belong here even if the gates were as ugly as a pile of shit. I took a deep breath and then realized I had been standing at the gate for several minutes now. I began this gruesome journey with hesitant steps then  quickly ran all the way to the high school of Griffon.

I wasn't supposed to be in high school but I have been excelling in all my exams since I stepped foot in middle school causing me to be promoted all through to high school. So here I was at the door of the already packed high school inhaling breaths like I was a victim of heart failure. At this point, I was already late due to how much time I spent at the gates of this nightmare. I pushed down my anxiety and stepped into the hallways and it took only three seconds for me to be squashed. I tried to maneuver through the crowd and made my way to the administration office where I asked Miss Collins for my locker number, key, schedule, and textbooks. I thanked her and left the office to fight another battle which involved a lot of squishing and yelling of curses before finally arriving at locker 313. I inserted the key and then put my books into my locker in an orderly  manner, and pasted my schedule to my locker.

Looking at my schedule which rotates daily, I had;

      8:00-9:00= Mathematics/Further Mathematics

     9:05-10:05= Biology/Food And Nutrition

     10:10-11:10= Physics/Technical Drawing

     11:15-12:15= Animal Husbandry/Free Period

     12:15-13:00= Lunch

     13:00-15:00=Gym/Extra-Curricular Activities

     15:00-16:00=Chemistry/Government

I grabbed the books I needed and shut my locker. I was about to head to my first class towards the direction of/down the hallway when the double door was pushed open and everyone turned to see the school's most popular girls clique walk in like they owned the place.

Emma stood at the back of the pack towards the right. She was no doubt gorgeous with her blonde curly hair in a high ponytail bringing out her blue eyes that complimented her glowing honey-gold skin. She was wearing a black baggie joggers with a blue high-neck top under the school's football jacket, and wore only mascara and baby-pink lip-gloss. She was one of those girls who hated the girl stereotype and trust me she showed it in every way possible. She was also one of the nice girls in their popular clique.

Beside her stood Brie. Her chocolate brown hair dropped in waves on her shoulders. She had dark brown eyes with a nice tan and was wearing a purple "I

hate Barbie" top and dark blue jeans with white Nike sneakers. She was also  wearing only mascara but with no lip-gloss and had this aura of  "Don’t mess with me" that intimidated people. She was a beauty and captain of the girl's football team and was crazy smart and extremely logical. She was also one of the nice girls in their popular clique.

At the far end of their line stood Sage in her usual all-black attire. She  wore black jeans with a black tank top underneath a black leather jacket and black combat boots. Her black hair with blue highlights framed her face. She had no makeup. She completely hated anything pinky and girly, and you could never catch her in a dress or skirt. She was also crazy scary mostly when she was giving anyone her signature death glare, which  fortunately, I had never been on the receiving side of. She was one of the nice girls in their popular clique and was also a bad girl. She was the rule breaker and the principal’s No 1 customer.
