Unbeknownst to everyone, there is a woman whose heart had broken into a million pieces upon hearing the King's announcement. Her brown eyes laced with tears that were about to spill, her heart raced as the words.
"prince Aderewaju asked for her sister Adufe's hand in marriage" kept ringing louder in her ear.
Bewaji came across the handsome prince Aderewaju the day she arrived in Ologundudu Kingdom from Ibadan city. Rewaju had become a skilled warrior. He was one of her brother Adewale's childhood friend. She had always admired him from afar ever since there were young but because of her timidness. She had never reach out to him instead envies that he was a friend to her older sister Adufe. Secretly she wished that one day he will notice her too but never knew that her sister also had an eye for him.
She was enthralled by his majestic way of using the sword, his deep brown eyes laced with tiro, his authorative tone when speaking, and his loud laugh.
She thought the modern gentleman she had once met in ibadan was a charmer, but upon seeing rewaju again, her heart betrayed her. Bewaji admitted she had fallen helplessly, ready to drown beneath the ocean of this love.
Bewaji does not even have interest in sword fighting; she rather loves to write, read, recite poetry and find solace in nature.
But ever since she came back from Ibadan she sneaks to watch prince rewaju on the training ground everytime he comes to the Palace.
She noticed his dangerously calm aura that surrounds him when he stays quiet, and this draws her more to him.
She wrote poetry about her love for him and dreamed about him. Bewaji thought she had finally found the one for her, and her love for Aderewaju was one of the reason she had rejected her arranged marriage with Akanni the son of Mayegun.
This secret love of hers is something of which nobody in the palace was aware, and somewhere in her heart she wished to be married to this warrior prince of Egbaland.
While people showered love and prayers on her sister. Bewaji shakily stood up and found her way out of the court and her tears spilled uncontrollably.
Now it seems her love has turned against her-or is it just that she was born unlucky? Now everything became clear to her, so her sister was also in love with prince Aderewaju, she thought if they had been in a relationship she would have noticed. Or was it when she left to study in ibadan. So many questions and thoughts running through her mind. She can't seems to understand.
Queen Abefe, saw her leave the court, and noticed something was wrong and wondered on such a joyful occasion why she didn't even congratulate her older sister.
Though bewaji is shy and reserved. her mother refused to be fooled by her; she just wouldn't take any chance after the pain she has caused the whole kingdom due to her rebellious attitude.
Knowing how Bewaji can be adamant and secretive, she can't be easily tamed. So she took it upon herself to find out the reason behind this act of hers. To confirm her suspicion, she also left the courtroom to follow her daughter. she quickened her pace to catch up with her. Then she saw Bewaji made her way to her favorite place, the garden. she still couldn't understand why she would come there. Although she loves gardening, she wouldn't be here for gardening at this hour, or would she? No, that's absurd, Queen Abefe thought....
